| Let the bed-wetter keep up her campaign of bile, she just ends up annoying everyone, there will be a time when her club is at the bottom again and looking for support from other clubs, and i for one can not wait to see the reactions. The ammount of underhand dealings that went on to save that hole of a club you would think she would have a little more humility, sadly the this brainless irk has none.

| The wakey shareholders meeting has sadly left non shareholders in the dark..they are after all only fans It would appear many supportive posters are sick to the back teeth of this nod and a mode of communication.
One suggestion is that the club needs investment quickly - no surprise there.
The amusing bit is a suggestion that going to 'Oakwell' is economically viable (you couldn't make this up). Even a suggestion that it is cheaper than playing at BV.
If this was really so why didn't wakey move there years ago? They could have avoided all their recent problems. The notion that a club 'desperate' for investment will be better off moving to Barnsley is laughable. Ho hum.

Nothing to do with your fantasy regarding League in New Zealand.......a fair bit to do with the way you and your long departed buddies reacted to anything that you didn't agree with on the NRL boards.
As for the topic.....Wakefield would seem to be in a spot of bother but this is Rugby League...

Really? So they were in a dire financial situation and chose to have winding up orders rather than move. I missed that.
An 'informed source' at wakey says they requested a £350K loan from the RFL! Who'd a thought it?

| It would also appear that among the club's umpteen 'plans' there is a move to raise £500k from shareholders / supporters by January 31st.
The last share selling option appeared to raise far less than this when there was no recession and a longer period for purchase (and it did not immediately follow Christmas).

Feel free to challenge the source.
Given the share sales in the past do you think wakey will raise £500,000 in under 4 weeks?

No. Because they wanted to stay in the place they were representing, where the fan base is. This is why established clubs don't tend to relocate for the sake of saving or making a few bob.

Well if others have requested it and been granted it, don't you think the RFL should oblige to do the same for the rest if requested?

If you think that would be the best way, why not have them step down now and play the year in the Championship instead? Surely that would make more sense to you?
What would your amazing rebuilding plan be for getting them back in the SL from the Championship, anyway? What if they don't get the stadium until the back end of the window? What if they struggle to make crowd-criteria due to playing in a less attractive league 6-10 miles away from Wakefield (and thus struggle on turnover money)?
To me, it seems the board are going along the lines of if they don't get stay in in 2012, it will be even more of a struggle to get back in in 2015. That's why they're fighting to stay in. It's easier to stay in than it is to get in from lower.
If Halifax were in the SL now, I reckon there'd be very little question on whether they'd get a license in 2012. Going on past experience, they'd have a better average than Salford in a much better ground. But they probably won't even get a look in past Widnes this time.
In 2015, you'll have teams like Halifax and Leigh (who are in better grounds NOW and have already proven they can get 2k+ regular attendances), Toulouse and Sheffield (who are in much more attractive areas to the RFL, have fairly decent crowds, and are in or can guarantee to be in a much better ground than Wakey will ever build) and also Featherstone and Barrow (who have shown they are competitive, have decent crowds, but are in the same boat as Wakey in needing a ground). I don't fancy Wakefield's chances of getting back in unless they dominate and maintain good crowds, which they will struggle to do outside of Wakefield AND outside of SL.

[The first part of the 'plan' is to avoid going bust by chasing pipedreams - this appears to be a real possibility...but at least sticking to SL will appeal to a few 'macho' business types, morons and dreamers.

[Gosh are they playoing in 2 stadia or in one that floats between 6 and 10 miles away?

First, I never said they were.
Second, what does having wind-up orders have to do with relocating? Did the wind-up orders get covered? Was there any real danger that Wakefield would be wound up? It was always going to get paid.
Going to Widnes was cheaper for Saints, yet they did not go there ASAP.
Going to Oakwell is a risk. It might be cheaper, but they may get less income. This is why they will have wanted to avoid taking the risk. They need to keep the team in the city for the sake of the fans, and any move should only be a last resort.
I don't find it hard to believe that a rented ground could be cheaper than maintaining an extremely run-down ground.
