Everyone has their own opinion! My only other thought for skipper was Ellis, but went with Sinfield as I believe he is a natural leader. Out of interest Joynty, what would your selections be?

I like eastmonds eagerness and pace. I think that he is young enough to play anywhere and find his natural position. I would just like to see how his pace would be coming into the line in attack, and I feel sure that he would break first tackles on kick returns.

RW - Smith
RC - Eastmond (SH if we had a decent centre!!)
LC - Shenton
LW - Hall
SO - Tomkins
SH - Myler
PR - Morley
HK - Roby
PR - Peacock
SR - Burgess
SR - Ellis
LF - Sinfield
SBS - Crabtree, Graham, Wilkin, *anyone*
A couple of people I would like to see back in the fold next year with a bit of form would be Gleeson and Pryce....I believe Pryce would go well at centre for England, far better than what we have now anyway.'"
Thats one of the best i've seen. Only thing would change would be to start with Graham and sue Morley off the bench

| Why on earth would you take the captaincy off Peacock? He is a perfect captain for the international arena, he leads by example and never takes a backwards step. To suggest he shouldn't be captain is a ridiculous claim.
But looking forward and over the next few years i think Sinfield would be a perfect replacement as captain as he has proved at Leeds that he is a great leader of men and able to inspire his team when it is needed, his knowledge of the game is second to none and he is the ultimate professional sportsman. For every young lad starting the game he is definately the one player that would be perfect to model yourself on!

Because he is a terrible captain.
He doesnt inspire those around him, his people management skills are apalling and fundamentally....he is not a very good player.

| And he's as thick as two short planks. He's not in a key pivitol position or a decision maker.
Think theres only a few options,
Sinfield
Ellis (from Loose Forward with K.Sinfield at 9 to let him concentrate on his own game)
Peacock is a grafter But needs to put a big performance in this weekend as does Morley - Maybe Arty Beetson was right! England need to get far more physical

Are you sure that was Arty? Could have sworn it was Olivia Newton John. But they are both Australian & look similar (especially the eye-liner Arty seemed to be wearing), so an easy mistake to make.

Add to that the man can hardly string a sentence together let alone have the vision to push his team around the pitch. He never seems to motivate the players and is not on the pitch for 100% of the game. The captain should have vision, ability and a bit of nouse about him. My opinion is Peacock has none of these skills as you put well Barry.

Peacock led the team out last night but Sinfield was the leader on the pitch. Apart from his outstanding performance he was talking and motivating the other players.

By far ??
So you think he's by far ahead of Ellis, Burgess & Crabtree for man of the series ?
I think all of these are in with a good shout, and if anyone is favourite i'd have to say it Ellis.
Ellis has been consistently excellent.

Hold on and dont get ahead of yourself. He has had 1.5 good games for England and many, many poor ones. Therefore based on this I think talk of him getting the captaincy is a little premature, especially considering he is hardly a guaranteed starter. If he plays as well for the next 5 games then maybe then he could be considered.

| A couple of thoughts on the centres:
1) Senior has never ever set the world on fire at the international level and if we had had a half decent centre he would have gone years ago. I'm sorry guys but he's nothing more than a bully who's only any good when he's playing for a side on top.
2) Gleeson's defence must have improved massively over the last couple of years, because I've seen him continuely come out of the line and leave his winger exposed at international level.
For me the closest thing we've come to having quality centre over the last few years is Chev Walker, but he went chasing the pound. Good look to Shenton though, wouldn't say he's world class yet. Good start though and hope continues to improve.
