It's more of a case that their band of "loyal" supporters no longer see the point in attending the weekly rounds and save their time, effort and cash until the real competition begins.
Joking apart, this is a fairly hefty drop in numbers for the champion team, usuaslly you would see an increase in attendances following a successful season.

I'd say better to judge later in the season. 2 of our 3 home games have been attended by more than last years average. Only a smaller crowd against Salford has dragged this seasons average down. Suspect we will end up similar, if not higher than last year.

In 2009 the Southstand was part closed, some of the fans who have left from there clearly havent moved to other parts of the ground, thats disappointing, but its also a huge undertaking to rectify that, one which the club needs to do right rather than quickly.

How reassuring. Now we know that when attendances fall its because clubs are doing things right (rather than quickly). When attendances rise is it because clubs are doing things too quickly?

Incidentally, I asked a good friend of mine (a Leeds fans) how he felt about a side that was mediocre all year but then won the Grand Final. He explained that, as a one off, he'd take a GF Win over a great season followed by second place, but in the wider scheme of things, it would become, and is becoming, a bit tedious in that he wants to watch RL for a good part of the year and see his team play to the highest level.

I fully expect that when we have good attendances, and those figures become more complete, and present a less bias and more positive picture, you will go as quite as you do in October every year or after you make offensive anti-semitic jokes or after you throw a big hissy fit about how you arent coming on here anymore and then we will see you sneak back under another name. My source for the attendance was the sportinglife.com website. The official superleague.co.uk website also claims an attendance of 12,105. Perhaps the recorded attendance of 11,200 at Langtree Park last night was correct but the official attendance is an amendment in order to count all season ticket holders, even if they don't bother to turn up?
