I've been every year since it reopened.
Was convinced that the roof shut but I note that it does have a retractable roof (11 acres which retracts by 4 acres) and that is why I thought it closed.
Cardiff it is then

| I think Odsal ticks all the boxes!!!!!
"Wembley of the north during my lifetime", so many varients planned and promised.
A transport infrastructure to die for.
A climate that changes to keep people on their metal.
Catering facilities 2nd to NONE
Personal Hygiene facilities to take your breath away.
Easy access to all areas of the ground.
A bankrupt council who will give nothing to get the gig.
Overall I just can't see why it would not be considered

| A biased opinion because of my location but the aviva stadium in dublin would be a great venue, not too big and would be a fantastic weekend for all.

Be cheaper having it in Las Vegas

| Went To Ajax stadium to see Take That last week(I Know!!) That has a roof that closes and plenty of after match activity to boot
Nice ground and location, £29 return for 4 people on the boat, downside is the beer is expensive in the bars, not to bad in the offy!

| Being drunk for three nights. The wife and I always made a week of it, staying in a caravan as close as possible with all the other fans. Staying in a caravan in feb just doesn't do it.

you mean The Amsterdam Arena? i went to a bloody christian youth convention there some of my well behaved friends were attending and i tagged along just because its amsterdam and i felt like being off my face for a few days, also anatagonising devout christians can be fun.suffice to say, most of the attendees did not react well to my turning up laughing my off.
anyway, amsterdam is a bit of a stretch surely?
if its not going to be cardiff surely it has to be london or somewhere closer to home that might actually get a respectable turnout. but then we are limited by the fact that no football team in the north will lend us their stadium to play several games in two days, especially halfway through the football season.
As has been said many times before, manchester cities stadium would do nicely. but it wont happen.
perhaps a cricket ground? they do it in the NRL from time to time. of course the problem again being convincing one of them to have several rugby league games on the precious cricket surface.
Old Trafford, Edgebaston, even (dare i say it) Headingly (the cricket bit). worth a thought maybe.

| why do people keep mentioning football stadiums. No football club is going to allow their pitch to have 7 games of Rugby League played over it on a weekend.
It will never happen so forget that idea. If the RFL is gonna stick with winter magic weekend then cardiff is the only viable place due to the closing roof.
I would like it to be moved back to summer personally. Feb is way too cold for this! Even in the summer the options are limited as you will never get a football stadium.
Dublin would be cool but lets make sure a few thousand locals will at least turn up. If the aim is not to attract any local then you might as well hold it at DW!
the RFL really need to step up the marketing for this wherever it will be. The marketing in Cardiff was pathetic!!

Decent ideas and it would be good to promote the game in London again. Then again Twickenham is a Yawnion ground.
Out of interest, why have you dug up a topic from months ago?

| TBH, London would be better in terms of getting media interest. If you think the M62 is seen as provincial, it's nothing compared to how badly Wales is looked down on.

| I hear Cardiff to help the game develop, two clubs of any note Scorpions and Crusaders might end up just Scorpions.
Leave them with that let them develop slowly.
Edinburgh: Scotland population 5 million for the whole country, bloody hell Gtr Manchester has 3 million people with pro clubs on its doorstep, leave it, it really isn't worth it.
Catalan do fine we don't need to take it to France.
London it is for me, we have Quins who really struggle and are apparently integral to the Sky deal so we need Quins, we also need to help them out and there are plenty of clubs springing up and more and more kids taking the game up. People say we have Wembley but that's one game for 2 clubs.
Put it either at The Emirates end of the football season or be cheeky and put it in Twickenham or even the new Olympic stadium.

| Yeah the RFL need to regain confidence in fans that RL in London will work and this could be the perfect opportunity.
It'll also open the eyes of non RL fans in London and hopefully by the 2013 WC we will have more fans in London and the game will have spread down there

| The "weekend" games have never been promoted in the right way and has always been at the expense of the travelling league fans.
There is a lot of league played in the midlands area so what about holding it in Birmingham, Aston Villas ground holds 42000 fans.
If the RFL want to market the game properly then reserve 32000 for the existing league fans, give 5000 tickets away to the kids with proof of living in the Birmingham area, the other 5000 tickets for Birmingham area residents at £8 a
ticket.

| It depends what the identity of the event is, what is the magic weekend actually for?
If it is to make money and sell tickets then the game MUST be in the North and probably in a few different stadiums.
If the event is honestly to spread the game then it MUST be South Wales or London. Another great location would be the Olympic stadium in Barcelona. The Warrington game there was a great success. If Rugby League could get a real foothold in that region then expansion could flow from there to other parts of spain and france and the rest of europe.

| Again it will NEVER be played in a football ground in either the on or off season. If its to stay as the first game of the season. Then Cardiff is the only logical location.
