i find it amazing hes surprised at training twice a day, seems to have come as a huge shock to him that you can do conditioning and on pitch stuff in the same day and predominantly use resistance based, full body conditioning rather than seperate weight training and cardio sessions. its pretty standard for most track and field athletes and NRL clubs and has been for years now.
we really are a mile behind the aussies when it comes to training/conditioning.
it will definately do him a lot of good being exposed to that level of professionalism.
friends involved in this sort of thing have commented many times after spending time working in australia that in many regards the standard of conditioning coaching and general knowledge levels/flexibility/willingness to embrace new ideas and research amongst conditioning staff in this country (they make specific reference to rugby league circles) is roughly like that seen in the first rocky movie. thats how they explained it to me anyway.

Mull has been training with a part-time semi-pro club and not a Super league club,VS. He will be experiencing a full-time pro environment for the first time.

thats fair enuff pepeissimo. even so, the people who tell me these things were talking about the culture in those cirlces over here in general and with specific reference to the standard at super league teams, compared to the NRL.

I have no idea who this bloke is or how on earth he got a job at the Brisbane Broncos. I can only assume the Broncos people got the names wrong or mixed him up with someone else.

Anyway it doesnt seem like he is going too well if this paragraph from his blog is anything to go by

A part-time job was part of the deal made before he went out there. He is not going to become a Brisbane Bronco. He is only there to learn something from the best RL coaches in the world, who tend to be in Australia. He will still have to fight in order to get a regular place in the team. If he manages that, he has achieved what he set out to do and will come back a better player – for Widnes.

Only another 11 months of bloggs left now, Barr..err...Phipps.

He will be ideal for working behind the bar at Halton stadium when he comes home that for sure!

Perhaps you can give him a few pointers, after your stint at the “Walkabout” pub?

George Burgess has been named to play for Norths in the NSW Cup this weekend and not in the U20s.

Thing is, who's been named and who runs out are totally different things at the end of the day in that grade.
