IMO the sport needs to take a long hard look at itself and ask the reasons why we are relying on imports (and average ones at that) in the first place.

The Sky money is being frittered away on overseas players instead of the development of international quality standard British players.

Don't get me wrong. If the import is of sufficient quality to raise the profile of the sport with the likes of Berrigan and Buderus (granted, unfortunate with injuries) helping to attract and develop British youngsters then all well and good but bringing over fill ins who can't get an NRL game is counterproductive.

Maybe Mr Murdoch has a covenant in place to ensure as many of his fellow Antipodeans get over here for his money as possible

At the minute, the media treats the game as regional of the Pacific Rim anyways

This is one of the things that baffled me, I'm sure the RFL have some sort of a ruling about who we can bring over.

As long as you have the likes of Berrigan and Buderus then you will have the average ones too.

Given the level of competition maybe we should just start giving the Championship clubs the Sky money instead and let them compete for the Super League trophy?

- Hull lose a guaranteed sell-out KC derby

- Hull lose a ton of merchandise revenue (record Hull merchandise sales have coincided with us being in SL - perhaps the local rivalry making Hull fans want to do even more to support their own club?), thus lowering their sources of revenue, which in turn could affect their ability to bring in world-class players

- Hull receive less national exposure because of the loss of RL's biggest derby.

- Hull players lose out on vital derby-match experience every year, thus potentially hindering their development.

Now, are you sure you want us out?

I know, relegate all 14 teams......promote 10 from the champs (not 2lose) and let Leeds, Bradford, Castleford and Wakey back in to ensure that they all have the same level of stadia


Tell Sky to F' Off......and watch the crowds flood back through the rusty turnstiles to watch Bradford v Barrow in the pi55ing rain in December.....

Seriously I just don't get this whole idea that if Quins weren't in SL Sky would pull out.

I mean, Quins have not been an SL success IMO, and when any neutral or non-RL person switches them on the sight of a 3/4 empty ground surely does not create a good image of SL.

Without Quins in SL it would not affect the development of the league (i.e. it's not like any club relies on Quins' away support) so I just don't get how supposedly SKy depends on them so much.

Correct. in 14 years we have only finished 2nd, 5th and 6th to make the play-offs and the real shocker is that it has taken this long to produce Cockney RL England internationals. Even worse, is the amount of times we have moved grounds, been financially bailed out by the RFL (wheelbarrow loads of cash...I've seen it) and been allowed to field a team full of rubbish Australians. And to think, we had the nerve to never finish in a relegation position....terrible

Of course you haven't - no team would finish in a relegation battle if they were constantly supplied with huge wads and allowed to field 17 Aussie Test stars every week for years.







Oh, and 'success' also refers to support levels (both at home and travelling support).

Interesting then that wakefield, Catalans and Castleford took less to Wales and the mighty hoards of HKR managed a massive 6 more than Quins...not to mention the second biggest away support at the KC last Friday

They really should - it can be a huge source of income for clubs e.g. by taking at 3000 to Cas recently we must have contributed £35,000 at the turnstiles alone (before programmes, food, drink etc).

IIRC it was said that both Hull clubs have had some of the highest numbers of support at all three MM games so far.

Think you'll find that was a combination of Rovers fans who couldn't get to Salford, + Hull fans sitting in the North rather then South

(so I got told by an FC passholder).

Seriously IMO it's great for the city - apart from Hull having a bad on-field season the city of Hull is on a sporting high, and it's not completely inconceivable that both clubs could hold top 4 spots within the next couple of years, an achievement not reached since probably the mid-80's.

In the long run I really think our inclusion will bring out the best in both clubs. Competition is healthy for any business don't forget.

Clubs should attract their own crowds....the number of away spectators is a complete irrelevancy brought up by supporters who want to take part in an arguement as juvenile as how high they can urinate against a wall!

On topic - if I had my way, we'd have no imports outside of the real quality ones, however, that seems to be unworkable in law. That people think olny 6 players from one club in one sport were the only ones to do this is frankly laughable.

Still say that the records will show as Harlequins Rugby League being the biggest draw outside the Derby at the KC this year......we are responsible for the 3rd biggest gate at Wigan and Stats don't lie

Reckon we took at least 4x that to to Celtic though.
