How do this years 18s look? Alright our 20s haven't done too well, they lost their captain to the firsts and some have played quite abit of firsts rugby this year. Wait til Brain Mac returns, then we shall see.

Fortunately Leeds have been doing both for a fairly long time now. Thats probably why this 'myth' rings true for most people,
Winning academy trophies however is irrelevant.

Only an idiot would rate a clubs academy on where they finished in the league.
Thankfully, those of us who have a clue, measure the success of how many kids are brought through season on season and become first team regulars and win international caps.

Any who is the future england captain from your "special team"???
Maybe it's the winger who can do the 100m in 11 seconds, but has the positional skills of stevie wonder on a merry go round, I saw Leeds junior academy twice last year and from that team of rejects, a young Ryan Clayton would have stood out as a star player.

Leeds are further towards the quantity than the quality though, do you not agree with that?
How many players of the quality of Sam Burgess or Jamie Peacock have Leeds produced?
Or any centres as good as Atkins?
Or any halves as good as Pryce?
Or (at his peak) any props as good as Fielden?

no, i dont, i think its nonsense, i think they have produced three halves as good as Pryce (or at least in the same bracket regardless of any whose better tit-for-tat) in Sinfield, Mcguire and Burrow, all Britain internationals
Diskin and Terry Newton are Leeds trained international hookers,
Lee Smith played at centre ahead of Atkins last year and i would argue at his peak Chev Walker was a better player than Atkins is right now, a bit of revisionism on going on with him right now
not to mention comfortably the best british winger produced by an SL club in a long while in Hall imo, with two other international wingers in Smith and Calderwood
Bailey, Carvell, Fozzard, Ward, JJB all international forwards, and im almost certain Scruton will some day join them
At his peak Adrian Morley was easily the equal of Fielden, and likely Peacock

You can't stick those on your super league application....
Leeds had a good patch 6 or so years ago but it has all but dried up over the last few years.
You do have a habit though of producing very fast but useless wingers such as, Rivett, Calderwood, Williams, Chrisholm.
I agree with you about Scruton though, he should be knocking on the door of England (although I also have no idea how Lynch is not in the England team)
Graham = top yards maker in SL
Lynch = Top offloader in SL
sounds like a dream combination to me.

Fielden at his peak was better than Morley or Peacock, and overall Peacock has been a better player than Morley imo.
How many games has Sinfield played in the halves for England or GB? (Genuine question, not a dig)

yet we have produced Hall, Smith, Ablett, Scruton, Mcshane, Clarkson, Gibson, Broughton since then,
we didnt have a good patch, we had an outstanding patch, better than anything before it for a long time, and certainly better than anything since. No club has had a 'patch' like leeds did between 02 and 04 for a long long time, it wasnt good, it was outstanding, and since then we have still been among the best.
Comparing our youth development now to our youth development in 02-04 is pointless, i doubt in my life time i will see so many, of such high quality come through in such a small amount of time again, but we dont need to, it would be disruptive and counter-productive, what we need to do is exactly what we are doing bringing through 3-4 top class youth prospects every year or so, we are doing it now bringing through Watkins, Clarkson and Mcshane,

Burgess is a top quality player, we havent produced a forward like Burgess since Morley, I think Burgess is a world class forward, he and Graham are probably they only two world class props this country has produced in the last 10 years.
Quote Fielden at his peak was better than Morley or Peacock, and overall Peacock has been a better player than Morley imo.'" I cant agree, i think at their peak Morley was better than Peacock or Fielden, i think Peacocks greatest asset is he has been the better player for much longer, Fielden had a few seasons in the sun but maybe only 5 where he deserved to be mentioned in the same breath as those two. Probably because he didnt evolve as a player, whereas both Morley and Peacock did, its probably why they have both lasted longer at the top of their game in that their game changed, over the course of a career Fielden has been much more one dimensional
Quote How many games has Sinfield played in the halves for England or GB? (Genuine question, not a dig)'" from memory 4 i think, though thinking about it i cant see Pryce having played masses of amounts more at SO

| LMS to Saints. Been on the cards for a while but more or less confirmed on the BBC website and in todays Daily Express I am informed.
Perry, Shenton and LMS for next season in addition to Soliola who will more or less be akin to a new signing given he has played about 20 minutes for us this season.

Hull FC’s long serving prop forward Lee Radford has agreed a new two-year deal with the Black and Whites.
The club have fought off competition from a number of rival clubs for his signature and today he put pen to paper on the new deal.

| Morley was a very very good second row when he left Leeds. Have a look at footage of him before he left if you want proof. He bulked up in Australia and transformed himself into the most feared prop in the competition.
I agree to an extent that Leeds have been riding on the coattails of the batch of kids developed almost ten years ago. We have produced a few others since - Smith, Hall, Ablett etc - who have been pretty good. But it can't be argued overall that we've really excelled since then.
I also disagree that it would be 'disruptive' to produce a lot more. If they can pressure the first team and even push out an established player sobeit. If not they'll leave and become established elsewhere. That's how its supposed to work anyway.
The fact is that in most positions Leeds haven't been producing real quality consistently. The club went outside for young forwards in Pitts, Ambler and Amor precisely because our own juniors weren't deemed good enough. We haven't produced a single halfback who is playing regularly in SL since Burrow/McGuire.
SL clubs generally don't produce enough quality juniors. Until we have fewer poor overseas players and genuine options in all positions for England then no club can or should be pointing the finger at anyone else.
