And what time slots the games are shown is a big factor. There are simply more TV viewers on a Thurs and Fri night compared to Saturday afternoon when there's often a full football schedule, people are out if the weather is nice etc.

Exactly, it’s just another example of a poorly implemented system where some clubs no matter what they do are at a disadvantage in the grading. How can you have a system that awards grading points that is out of the hands of clubs in which some clubs will gain and others will lose, it's nothing more than a lottery.

lol viewing figures. How on earth can viewing figures actually be measured accurately?
No one knows if I’ve watched a game or not. Even more so with the advent of IPtV etc. Once upon a time to work out viewing figures a teeny tiny percentage of people of households had a set top box which monitored which channel you were watching to work out “ viewing figures”. These were totally optional if you were asked. Honestly interested if anyone knows where these figures quoted come from.

Will the change to the catchment criteria also be a boost for ourselves and Rovers?

The Salford exodus may be starting. Rovers have made an approach for Sneyd according to Aaron Bower.

Think Sneyd is the last player they will be wanting to sell. Plus at 34 by the time the new season starts, I just can't imagine he will want to move back over this way again after only fairly recently moving back home. Would take a massive contract offer for him to consider it.

Surprised to hear they've made an approach for Sneyd to be honest, like you say would he want to come back over this way as unlikely to uproot his family again not fancy the commute. Guess it depends on how much Rovers can offer with available cap space to tempt him and the financial situation at Salford etc.

If Rovers have made an approach for Sneyd I'd like to think we'd have made an approach for a couple of players, Cross at the very least who'd be a great addition and massively improves us at centre.

Can't see Sneyd wanting to move or commute back to Hull. Obviosuly he will be worried about Salford financial state but with the advance in TV money surely his 2025 pay is secure.

Also would be silly for Salford to sell him first, his goal kicking alone generates a few wins a season.

I’m sure he’ll find a new club. I like Jack and thought he was one of our better players last season.

I expect he’ll end up at Bradford. I think they’ll be the ones pushing for honours in the Championship next season and a push for a SL place, especially with the additional IMG points that a GF and 1895 Cup win would bring. He’d be a great signing for them.

Rovers will be able to offer him silly money for one last pay day, travelling might not be ideal but RL players really need all the big pay days they can get, I’d be pleasantly surprised if it doesn’t happen.

That depends on how much he's paid and how many minutes a club get's out of him. I suspect his salary at Hull was a little over-inflated to start with.

One of the drawbacks with Walker is that he's an out & out full-back, he is no where near as effective in any other position, and with the recruitment of Rapana he'd basically become either a back-up FB or a stop-gap emergency cover in one of the other back spots where, as I said, he doesn't operate any where near as well.

Taking into account his salary, I suspect that's why the club have released him. Mis-management of cap space has been one of our regular failings over the years so we can hardly blame the club for making decisions of this nature if they calculate it's in the best interests of the business.

Like you say, there is a suspicion he was possibly on an over-inflated salary, especially given his past injury record, which unfortunately for him will probable have worked against him in this case.
I think he is still more than capable of playing at SL level, but given the circumstances, we are not in a position to have someone of his ilk on the books merely to provide back-up cover. A tad harsh on him in truth, but I'm afraid that is how it pans out sometimes. We'd need more out of him to justify keeping him within the 2025 squad.
Hopefully he will find another club soon as he seems a decent enough lad.

Leigh now in for Sneyd it seems, surely a better bet for him in terms of travel and being bought a drink ever again in West Hull
