Completely clueless in attack. No organisation or structure going forward. We were basically reduced to five drives and a kick rugby for the vast majority of the game. We didn't utilise and single set move or dummy runner in the entire game. The only breaks we made came from an offload.

Kicking game was gash as well

It was a good performance and much better than I probably expected especially with a completion rate of about 50% after 15 or so minutes. Roby in his first spell was pretty poor but in his second was quality. The defence on our right hand side (Shenton/Goulding) is worrying however the attack on that side was potent.

Atkins for me isn't good enough nor is Brown. They try but lack any real quality, how many poor decisions does Brown make? It was stupid to push over Eastwood, his kick on the play after we scored back to back trys was very poor (out on the full) and he put one decent kick in all game. Robinson looked good which was a bit of a suprise and Widdop looked better at left centre then he did at FB however who else do we have to play FB?

Basically we just don't have the depth to be able to cope with missing Eastmond, Morley, Peacock and too a lesser extent McGuire.

But that would still leave without someone who can kick the ball......................

He actually tackled the opposition players. That puts him in front of a few straight away.

NZ looked rattled for a spell, its a shame we didnt ask the questions earlier and its a real shame the decision for the try went against us.

We can get better, and I really fancy us next week.

What I do regret is that the format is not 2 games as in the old tri nations

Cheer up lads. We've only got the Aussies next week. Am I correct in saying if NZ beat PNG next week they're in the final against Aus assuming they will beat PNG and us.

Thats the problem for teams away especially with this format. By the time they get going its home time

dear oh dear, nothing much changes! Can't believe we still can't produce a half back who can control the team, know what tackle it is and demand the ball to produce a right decision play on 5th tackle.

V disappointed in lack of aggresion in the English pack, have to say they were done over with the exception of Westmond and O'Loughlin. Graham finally came to life after watching his team mates get smashed for 5 tackles straight but all too little too late.

Our back line is not even close to Int standard from 1-7. Widdop? Do me a favour, the kid is playing reserve grade in Oz ffs!

Thank god PNG are in it is all I can say otherwise it would be another 0 in the win column.

Only players who can hold their heads up imo were:
Tompkins - looks the goods but needs to play a Benji role, receiving the ball wide and running at the line then offloading
O'Loughlin - Tackeld well, some nice offloads and hit the line hard
Westman, best forward for me. Only blemish was the missed tackle for their 3rd try otherwise my mom for England
Shenton - looks quality, decent size and speed and hopefully will get better as he gets older.

As strong, Big and athletic as we can get given the squad. Lockers in the halves he has great hands and can hopefully get decent ball to Sam in space. Think everyone would like to have Gleeson at centre rather than Widdop but cant think of much options apart from maybe Ellis or Joel but then who else could we bring onto the bench.

I'd play Brown at centre ahead of Widdop. At least Browns played there before.

Can't Tom Briscoe play centre? I vaguely recall reading that was his long-term position although it's equally likely i've made that up.
