Get a grip people. So far there have been 27 pages of people saying "That's terrible, it's the worst kit ever".

The only 'bad' kits so far in reality are the shorts on the Warrington and Wigan kits.

There is no way any of the other kits can be criticised when compared to what has previously been released, the historical constraints to the designs (Red vee, cherry hoops, primrose and blue, the Germany flag etc) and the need to cover as much as logistically possible with sponsors logos.

Sure we could get genuinely stylish products produced by elite manufacturers but given the low key nature of RL and the low number of sales each kit will make it's not likely we'll see Nike or Adidas designing ultra cool RL shirts in this country for a while.

I've also got one of Andrew Ettinghausens 'Superleague Sharks' match worn jerseys from the same era.

They are more or less identical to the Nike ones you could buy in the shops, but these have the sleeve sponsors as well where as the shop bought ones didnt.

I actually don't like that shirt but I love the current shirt.

The kits this year are not as bad as everyone says.

Man 1 - 'Welcome to the Kooga ideas meeting, has everyone brought their sketches for the Rugby League shirts?'
Man 2 - 'Erm... I haven't. But I have brought some mild hallucinogens...'
Man 1 - 'That just isn't good enough 2, but since you brought them, hand them round'

I much prefer the current 'Classic' Australia jersey as well, but the Nike Superleague Australia ones were top quality.

I just don't like the design, it doesn't look good. The quality may have been there though.

The ARL owned the rights to the traditional design and wouldnt let Superleague Australia use it....so thats what SLA came up with as an alternative.

The away one looks a bit like the Wakefield away shirt from 1999/2000...a little bit, anyway.

Do the clubs have the final say on the kit designs?

If kooga's kit designs for next year were the best chosen can you imagine what the ones that got rejected looked like

I've never been party to it, but following commercial common sense one would imagine it would be presented to the manufacturers using a overall platform of requirements. The manufacturers would then design several options which would then be sent to the commercial manager at the club who would liase with them about the initial designs and get them to make changes as required.

The final designs would then, I assume, be presented to the board and the sponsors to get their sign off on it.

After looking at this lot i'm glad i'm a Donny fan. we might not pull up any trees on the pitch but at least we'll look ok sat in the stands.
