Can't help but feel embarrassed when I read Wirewonders posts.

Reading his posts I'm guessing he's a fan of a rival team trying to make Wire fans look bad. (granted at times it doesn't take much.

Regardless of what we as fans think (I think P&R is the right way not the franchise system) our governing body set out criteria 3 years ago that both SL & Championship clubs were supposed to follow.

My club Widnes, according to the RFL, are the Championship club that have followed their guidelines the best & therefore deserve to be promoted to SL this time. I am ecstatic that this is the case but do feel for Fax that also met the criteria.

The SL club that makes way for us (could have been Fax) will be the club, according to the RFL, that has been the least observant of the franchise guidelines.

All clubs were aware of the franchise guidelines 3 years ago & knew that if you followed them you could be promoted or not demoted.

Though this was not the case for the SL clubs because the RFL do not treat all clubs equally.

Wakey are favorites for the drop because they are the furthest club from the franchise criteria, we all know this a load of bollo@@s & it should be Quinns and/or Crusaders facing the drop. Whoever leaves SL will feel gutted due to this.

In a perfect world Widnes & Fax would go up, Wakey would stay up, Quinns & Crusaders would go down, but our world is not perfect.

We all know the above to be true yet the RFL persist with their expansion plans that have never worked (paymasters SKY want this) & therefore cause the anomisity between fans we see in this thread.

Divide and conquer comes to mind.

Reading people's response to Wirewonders' post is most entertaining. These Widnesians jump out of the river slap bang into his hands. Wirewonder doesn't even need a rod! Wake up and smell the latte Widnes fans!!!!

Would be funny when widnes finish bottom this season let alone the next 3 years

Much as your current situation does amuse me , I definatley want you to become competitive in SL , the 1 st year might be asking a little too much , and anything above 13 th will be a success , then hopefully push on , I would want this both for any future potential SL clubs , but also for your loyal fan base that has continued to support your club outside of the top tier

That you sack players because you can and you demean a competetion, is it fair no, it could now change the overall positions the rest will finish in. IMHO you are ruining what is and has been a very competitive league so far.

Reason given was performance related, I agree could have simply dropped them, but what difference would that make to the league from this?

Ruining the league?! How so? We'll still be putting a team out against Fax tomorrow night, how does this effect anything or anyone else? And we haven't sacked anybody thank you, read it properly before you used terms you've made up.

Maybe you would have been better this year putting in these good young kids in, instead of players, who know they're not coming to SL with you. I think you would be doing better then you are at present.

And if Betts thinks hes in a job next year, then hes thicker than I thought it him that needs sacking, you need t get DES as your chairman

Wakefield survived in SL, and that is the best I can say. The RFL set the rules and if you look at some of the things that have been said by the RFL over the years you will find that the RFL's vision of SL was a good setup at every level from the Facilities that a club could offer and a solid youth programme.

Widnes' success at reserve and Academy level has been outstanding and the idea of the Viking Stronghold is one that will be copied by other clubs. [The club is not looking for 7000 members this year but rather next year or the year after.

Widnes is a small town, unlike the City of Wakefield, and carries more than its weight in RL circles.

So don't make stupid criticisms of the system that allowed you to survive as long as you did and of a club that has now benefited from the same system.

Leaguefan isn't a wildcat, just a bitter person who doesn't like us for some reason nobody cares about.
