Barba was garbage last year because he was 2 stone overweight and was thrown into a team with a 4 or 5 games to go in a pivotal position. Even then he showed a few glimpses of class.

Could well be the case. I'd also throw the number of games we play into the mix. Barba has yet to play a full English season. Let's see if his enthusiasm and sharpness is still evident after another 25 games, say.

| If we take each player at their peak, it has to be Barba as Tomkins never proved himself at the highest level. (he did regularly tear us a new one though)

| In todays game, there is no comparison. Barba all day long. However, if you compare them both in their pomp, ie, Barba in 2012 and Tomkins before he did his knee and Barba is still light years ahead.

| Barba was a star in a higher quality competition and has continued in the same vein over here. Whilst Ratboy was big over here he was certainly not in NZ. Barba all day long for me!!

Over the course of a third of a season Amos Roberts was playing better rugby than Barba until the rugby posts more or less ended his career.

That doesn't stack up at all, Amos Roberts average per season was 11 tries 7 try assists and 54 tackle busts, at the moment Barba is on 8 tries 7 try assists and 45 tackle busts and thats only in his first 7 games this season with still another 23 + games to play.
If Barba maintains form he will surpass Roberts 2.4 years achievements in his first full season.
I think you are getting mixed up with Richards not Roberts, Pat Richards was playing great rugby and had more influence than what Roberts could muster.

| He’s talking about Amos Roberts in 2010 when he started the season like a train. He finished with 13 try’s and 9 assists from 14 superleague fixtures but all of those try’s came in his first 9 games before he wrecked his knee playing against Wakefield. He never recovered after that but that early season spell was pretty similar to what Barba is producing at the minute (an unbelievable try away at Wire being a highlight).
Edit-I’ve Just watched a highlights reel of Roberts from 2010 on YouTube and he was even better then I remember! Some of the things he was doing were freakish. Ironically he hurt his knee scoring an absolute blinder.

| This season Barba has been excellent and even as a Wigan fan will say Barba has been better than Sam. Sam is not the same player that left Super League for the NRL. Before he left Sam was exceptional year in year out for Wigan. People mentioning Sam flopped in the NRL because one of injury hit season. RTS and Isack Luke have also been pathetic at the Warriors, does that make them NRL flops? Season one Sam was up there with the best in the NRL, the stats are there to see. People talk about how good Barba was in the NRL, I remember one exceptional year for the dogs and one good season at the sharks. He was pathetic at the Broncos. If Barba plays like the way he is for Saints for three or four seasons then the argument is ended with Barba the better player.

| All this talk of Tomkins flopping in the NRL is total nonsense. He made a choice to go to the complete wrong club. He went from a club with structures to a joke side who half the time don't know themselves what their next move is on the pitch. He had reasonable try returns, plus his second phase ball and tip ons led to the warriors scoring some very neat trys from his work. Its the non Wigan fans again having a pop without watching what he properly did. No I am not a Wigan fan

I was surprised he went to the Warriors really as it was always going to be a struggle there - unless nobody else was interested.
He was exposed defensively and in his kick returns but I'd suggest that plenty of other fullbacks would look just as bad in that side.

Obviously not seen as RTS is joint top of Dally M voting so far and Issac Luke clearly didn’t flop at Souths. Flop at New Zealand, yes but not in the NRL. Terrible comparison.

Which means byproxy Roberts is 5 times the player Tomkins is/was. Also, how many Dally M’s has Roberts got? Please answer me. Oh you won’t. I will answer it then. Zero. Unlucky

To be fair. Give Martyb his dues, at least he hasn’t blamed it on jealousy like some other Wigan fan didn earlier in the thread. Instead he just made up some stupid stat that doesn’t make any sense. That’s the thing about Wigan fans. If you criticise any of their players they go into melt down. Don’t believe me? Start a thread stating that Joe Burgess is about the 5th best winger and you will be met with death threats in PM

Yes, because Cocaine does enhance performance especially when taken after the seasons finished.

Tested positive four days after the grand final, a long enough timetable to assume he took it before the match. Granted, it doesn't prove it but the fact it was his second positive test looks a bit dodgy.

That is this year. RTS has been terrible before this year since signing. Looked not even half the player seen at the Roosters. Hence Bullseye quote any fullback could look bad there. This year they look different that has to be Clearys influence

Considering he was coming back from an ACL RTS was actually pretty good last year. Would that be the Cleary that left the club several years ago?
