Im pleased with a CC final and and getting within 40minutes of Old Trafford, it was a good effort considering the season we have had and the players we have been missing. We cant win it every season.

Buderus came over here with a massive reputation, and whilst he's been ok even good on occasion, whenever we have needed him to step up and really show his class he has failed to deliver. Massive reputation, massive disappointment in the games that count...

Buderus cost us the game yesterday.

Like I said, Ben Fisher has been better value than Buderus this season.

Interesting comments from Smokey here on various Rovers/mooted potential Rovers players at the time in May 2007.

KEITH SENIOR (LEEDS RHINOS) was a Great 3 years ago, now average, not even the best centre at Leeds and will be playing second row next season most probably

PAUL COOKE Good enough but not as good as he is made out, needs quality backs to be able to do anything, will never break the line and needs a halfback partner who will complement him by being a line breaker
JAMES WEBSTER, seems adequate but not really the type of player who will bring the best out of Cooke

MAKALI AIZUE Distinctly average
MICHAEL VELLA Very good
DAVID TANGATA TOA Very average
DANNY WARD Rightly sacked by Leeds, shouldnt have played again, has gone down hill from when he was at Leeds and even then he was only a workhorse and not a star player
STEVE SNITCH (HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS) why would you pick Steve Snitch of all players, average at best

BEN FISHER OK, probably comparable to Diskin, nowhere near Drew, Cunningham, Roby or Newton though

again, you missed the context of this was supposed to be a team in challenging the top 6, not just putting out a competitive team in SL. that team wouldnt have done. And there are no players in there i said you should be signing, very few of them you listed were 'young' even in 2007, most of them had already proven themselves not good enough, as your coach agreed, and most of them arent even English you fool

Also history agreed they werent good enough to finish top 6. Maybe because they were filled with so much average overseas dross and kolpak stiffs.

Though it did give you a chance to prove your own point wrong, look at the 'hungry antipodeans with their best years ahead of them' you had back then. Clearly you would have been better putting your eggs in the young English basket instead of spending time and money on dross like Andreas Bauer, Luke Dyer, Tangata-Toa, Byron Ford etc, where are they now?



and if you hadnt filled it with old stagers like Mark O'neill, Stanley Gene, Makali Aizue and Jim Gannon. you could have used that opportunity to blood some young English players maybe you wouldnt need so many this year.
