| I love watching Knowles play. But easily the best? I mean Bateman has to be in with a shout surely? Top 2 maybe.

| no Judder man you are missing the point there are13 players at stains that are better than Abdul and Sam might just get in your squad probably as a sub according to a stains fan.Made the last bit up but prob correct in my assumption.
And as pointed out players at the time Leeds players didnt win MOM was voted by players.

At last you are proving my point that MOS these days has little value, for quite a few seasons the players vote was a farce seem to remember one particular player getting lots of votes who had on;y played 2 games that season.
For me the Man of Steel should be just that someone who is very tough, durable and lifts his team when backs are against the wall. That trait has been forgotten for well over a decade now the likes of Farrell, Graham, Peacock wouldn't be considered now.
Our man Ben Barba won the MOS in 2018 after just 20 games but was rubbish for the last quarter of the season, that "man of Steel Trait" that season was Jonny Lomax who remarkably has never won Man of Steel. Jonny Lomax gets hammered every game yet is still great in defence and attack, controls a game under pressure and has high try assists year after year
I think the title needs to be addressed some people have the mindset the best player in Superleague is the one who has won the MOS.

| I am not proving your point as my point is if it isnt a St helens player who wins the mos it is irrelevant as already stated 13 players at stains are better than abdul as quoted,do you not see my point that you and your fans are so biased that it is laughable

He is a great player, I have acknowledged that as have the majority of people on this post. You have said that he is undeniably the best player in the competition though, which you have then contradicted by suggesting it could be Walmsley.
For what it’s worth, I think Walmsley is better. Sam Tomkins is still the premier player in the competition for me though. I won’t say that is undeniable though, because it is just my opinion.
However, happy to be proven wrong when the season starts.

That's the Sky TV influence. They hype a player up (Usually because Phil Clarke's brother is their agent) and everyone suddenly regards them as a superstar. Toby King is one that springs to mind. Had a few good games, got built up as the reincarnation of Paul Newlove by Sky, got his new contract and went back to being Mr Average.
Tomkins also had a decent two or three games last year and got hyped up to the nines. He had no impact in multiple games and still got 3 MOS points because the games weren't televised. Lachlan Coote is a better player than Sam Tomkins and unquestionably the best back in Super League (Apart from Jack Welsby). He could win MOS next year at Hull KR as there won't be as much competition for points from his own team.
I think the bookies have it right having Tomkins outside the top 15 for MOS betting for next year.

It's always been like that. Often good players anyway but then with astonishing sky hype piled on top. Danny Maguire, a great lad and fabulous support player was elevated to some sort of world beating genius. We started to call him "The Lord Maguire" in recognition of his new status.

So Coote who is unquestionably the best back apart from Welsby (how does that work)?

It has nothing to do with Sky, it is my opinion, as clearly stated. Often, people can watch a sport and enjoy someone’s performance who doesn’t play for their team and award credit where it’s due. It doesn’t happen often, although this is a direct example. I have no prejudice or agenda, I just think that he is the best player in the competition. Coote is a decent player, but is not the best back. Neither is Welsby, or he would have played more. Not to say Welsby might not become the best, but last year, in my opinion, Tomkins was significantly better than both.
Now… Just because I don’t agree with you doesn’t mean that I’m wrong. Pull your head out of your backside and stop acting like a child.

Cust is a good shout. Wigan are bang average. There isnt one player in that team that would get anywhere near St Helens team. Even the bottle smasher looks woefully average now he hasnt got Canberras pack around him.
That said. Wigan have always been greater than the sum of their parts and will win a lot of games so Cust will in all likelihood be the one that stands out so will probably get the 3 mos points every week.
Its a flawed system, but it is what it is.

| No one is deranged. Everyone on here is lovely because it is Christmas. Maybe meet between the trenches, have a game of touch and pass and then if you really have to you can recommence hating one another in 2022?

Fully deranged would mean he/she/it would think stains 1-13 are the best players in superleague and will not admit there maybe other players as good or even better than said 13 ,oh wait a minute you could be right yes fully deranged fits so much better

Wigan have been really poor and perhaps not even bang average at times, more or less confirmed by struggling to get only one player in the 2021 Dream Team. I don't recall any player getting to challenge the top tier of the MOS listing either.
When I say not even bang average at times some of the Wigan fans mentioned it on there forum when they failed to score a try for something like 180 mins of rugby league, I think they have a superleague league record of being kept to zero points in quite a lot of games be it the first half or the second half. Adrian Lam obviously taken them backwards in 2021.
Lots of work required by the new coaching staff, Wane will puppeteer some improvement though.

Thanks for pointing out all of this myself and other fans hadnt noticed this ,so once again thank you.
I think it was this year Wigan were pretty bad by their standards but previously getting to a grand final and winning the hub cap wasnt too shabby.
Will have to wait for this coming season to pan out everything else is in the past now.
