Can anyone tell me why a stand off is called a five-eighth in nrl?

When Australian's began playing RL they hadn't seen English RL and so looked more towards NZ RU where the term five-eighth came from the position being half-way between the scrum-half and the three-quarters.
Our term stand-off comes from that position standing away from the scrum. |

I wonder if Sky will be picking up the rights to the NRL next season as they are showing The Anzac Test, State of Origin and Grand Final and they also showing a weekly highlights show starting from next week any thoughts ?

No because the current deal is a joint deal between the two broadcasters and is for next season as well. |

Would be nice if Sky showed live coverage of the NRL in HD the bit rate on Premier Sports is awful but still at least people can watch it for free I suppose.

Loving these Saturday Morning games. Nice to wake up to.
MSK doing a good turn. The picture quality is looking better to me now and from what was 3 games a week they are now up to 5 this weekend (1 Yesterday, 2 this morning, 1 at 5am tomorrow and Monday 10am). Wonder if we'll eventually get the lot?

Well a sin bin after the final hooter summed it up. Ok there was a 1 tackle penalty play but it would have made no difference to the result so whats the point of a yellow card. |
