100% correct IMO.

Tell me how? A popular misconception. There is no miracle training scenario, there is no wonder coaching style, there is no difference at the elite level.
Go and ask someone like Morley. His main thing after a year or so of being here was that he couldn't believe how the players looked after what they ate a lot more on Oz.
THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE!!!
It's the amount of talent at one's disposal as a coach, trainer, conditioner compared to that of the UK.

| I think I might apply!!!
For one thing I can't do any worse and until the entire RL system in this country is revamped top to bottom with specific aims targets and ACHIEVABLE goals then all the game can look forward to in the future is the odd test match win here and there.
There is one good reason however why I may not apply..........
I coudn't put up with all the stick all the the other armchair coaches would give me

| Does the job need an existing full time coach? Apart from a meaningless mid-season game what does the England coach do between March and October?
Maybe the job requires somebody involved a coaching set-up, but not a necessarily the head coach.
Kris Radlinski has been obvious by his presence the last couple of weeks.

| Lets put the coaching thing etc into perspective.
I you give a mechanic the parts to build a Lada car and the basic plans it's highly likely the mechanic will make a Lada
Conversely if you the mechanic the parts and the basic plans to build a Rolls Royce it's probable that the mechanic will make a Rolls Royce.
Both will perform their basic function well but it's what else they will do and how easily. No matter how you tinker with the Lada it will never be of Rolls Royce standard unless the parts are changed and it ceases to be a LADA but becomes something else.
Even the greatest mechnic can only use the tools, equipment and parts that there are available.

I agree - it's awful
The best British coach in the game at the moment is Brian Noble, but he has been there and done that before. Second to him is John Kear, but he would be a backwards step from Tony Smith IMO.
I would look at a current NRL head coach for the job. I don't care about nationalities too much, I just want the best man for the job.
I will add that having former England internationals around the coaching team is a good idea too - Kris Radlinski being a great example. Anyone else notice the improvement from Peter Fox and Shaun Briscoe? What's Ellery Hanley up to these days? Paul Sculthorpe? etc.

I am sorry I just didnt bother to read any more after that. Ask any player who has played under Noble and they might disagree.'"
Name a better British coach.
Steve McNamara
Brian McDermott
Richard Agar
Karl Harrison
Paul Cullen
None of them come close to BN and would be way out of their depth at International level.
The only coach who is British and comes close to him is John Kear.
I don't think Brian Noble is a wonder coach, but he is the best of a poor bunch.

| Kear ticks all the boxes for me, I think people underestimate him as a coach becuase of the way he comes across, I used to myself. The man is a rugby league obsessive and has a lot of knowledge, he has a proven track record of winning when needed and can motivate a team for a one off games, One thing that would surprise many people about him is that for a coach who has been around for a long time and has a lot of experience he is still very open minded and willing to try new things, I remember his first pre season in charge of Hull he brought in specialist coaches for certain players from other sports for sprinting, kicking, wrestling etc I remember reading interviews with some off them who were very impressed with what he was trying to do.
I think its fair to say that his teams do not always play total free flowing rugby, he has has his teams organised but I think that it would also be unfair to simply call it 5 drives and kick, it was sensible approach only throwing the ball around when it was needed to do so, but lets face it our backs and halves are dross compared to what the Aussies can field, we can only get close to them in the forwards so an approach like that would be the best option.
