No. I don't know if it's a good or bad deal. How can you be so sure it is either? What I'm saying is that it's interesting to me. I like the idea because it's innovative and of course it may not work. Just taking the Betfair deal has its financial benefits but again I like the sound that was coming out of the sport about image and integrity because it's what we do. So there are a few things that are aligned enough for me to say "Why not?"

I'm open to feedback on why that isn't reasonable because it feels like a well thought out point of view to me.

Sky get free advertising too, so long term I think sky are more than likely to look on League very favourably in future years IMO.

We've basically taken out an incredibly cheap advertising deal worth more in value than the money we could have gotten from Betfair. I don't think it's a bad deal at all, I think it's what the game has needed for a long time - greater exposure.

How much does it cost to sign up a truck? £1-2.5k surely at the least. These are big wagons as well. Could be costing up to £0.25m to physically produce the graphics. Then there's the value of paying for 100 adverts all year round, which I can't imagine being cheap at all.

Then there's the fact that we've not locked out our sponsorship, so we're open to take money from other places still. We've not finished signing people up, there's still money to come in.

Then there's the space on the wagons to advertise commercial partners, which we are doing so far with Heinz Big Soup, which will then push up the value of them deals as we're increasing their exposure.

Then there's the fact that Sky is advertised, which will hopefully lead to an increase in viewing figures, which in turn will reflect on our next television deal (which will get us far more money for the game than our title sponsorship has ever gotten us). Even if they don't go up too much, we've still added value to the Sky deal by advertising them.

There is one hell of a lot of potential in this deal. It is potentially worth far more than any of our other offers, and could see us bringing in more money through associate sponsors on the side AS WELL AS increase our own exposure. What's wrong with that?

This is a new relationship with a new corporate partner. Play our cards right and we could grow to many more of their livery as well as hard cash, which in turn could see us bring in more from other associate sponsors, etc. If we keep sticking our hands out wanting straight up cash in reutn for a lock out of all sponsor deals, we'll end up in the same position over and over again... and then moaning about it!

No imagination, and it is a bad deal, lots of imagination and its potential is huge

This also applies to the individual clubs, if I was the CEO of a SL club, I would have already been speaking to Stobarts to come up with marketing ideas to that can benifit both companies via the use of these trucks

As I posted earlier, would the clubs all have spent the Betfair 60 K on marketing?

Do the individual clubs have their own trucks? Or are they just dedicated to them and the RFL pick a player from that club, etc.

Could Hull have P&O Ferries on the side for example, and Rovers Neil Hudgell Solictors, etc.

The only other brands, other than Super League and Stobarts, are Sky Sports and Heinz Big Soup.

All clubs have 6 Individual trailers dedicated to them. Hull FC will have Danny Tickle on all of theirs.

These truck spotters are likely to be orgasmic at the thought of spotting these specially decked out Stobart trucks.

I would have liked to see the club names or the club badge on the side of the lorries. Just to make it a bit more obvious to the common man who they actually are

There is the club's web address on the back of each lorry, stuck right in the middle. That will probably mean more than a badge!

Stobart were tweeting various photos earlier today. Some of them have been posted on here but there were other ones too. I didn't realise that there is 'stobartsuperleague.co.uk' on the top of each trailer in massive lettering so that passing helicopters can see the trucks as well! But on the back is the player pic, the club's web address, the Sky logo and a message that sport should be about supporting your local team. So both sides, the back and the top are all covered. And they are massive!


No. The generic truck shows some club sponsors. Saints and Leeds, for example, have their shirt sponsors on full display but that is because their players are standing in the middle of the line, facing each other so the shirt sponsors are in full view. But only Heinz and Sky feature as obvious adverts.

No but as with SL if you can get them on your website then the petvueved added traffic there could increase SL / clubs sponsorship potential.

Breaking news from the Bulls' Fans Forum earlier this evening. In response to one of my written-in questions, this is a summary from our chairman:

Nine clubs turned up at the RFL meeting that approved the Stobart sponsorship deal for the RFL. A further one attended by telephone. The French and three other (unnamed) clubs did not. Those clubs voted in favour by majority. Bulls voted in favour. So did Pies, Wire and Stains. To buy that amount of national advertising - and it was the national advertising that made it a "no-brainer" (his words) would cost £2m p.a. And it gives club sponsors like Greenwoods national advertising - Greenwoods are dead chuffed at the Bulls delivering, and are likely to do more with us as a result.

Sounds like a decent deal in the current economic climate. At least it's not a tin pot sponsor like Probiz, the Lorries look good, lots of people will take notice when they drive past, decent.

And yeah stobart have 2,200 truck but logos aren't on the trucks they are on the fridge trailers that spend most of their working life parked up in some yard.

And most of the adverts look more like they are advertising skysports not Rugbyleague.Blah waste of time.


p.s those pictures are so lame how about for the Cas one a heading reads "WHEN THE TIGERS ARE AROUND IT'S BEST TO PLAY DEAD" with a picture of Sam Tomkins lying on the floor unconscious with Cas players stood over him.
