As much as I agree if Morgan felt hard done by a refs performance he has every right to voice his opinion I have to admit I don’t agree with it in regards to Thyler.

I actually commentated after the Wigan vs Saints game that I though he had an excellent performance that night and let the game flow which is more than can be said of other whistle happy refs in the league.

Like you said guess we all have bad days but at least we can admit it compared to ref’s who according to the RFL never put a foot wrong and are backed to the hilt.

He cant go round slagging the refs off they got beaten 30- 08 surley the ref didnt miss the tackles that lead to some of the trys, ok fair enough the fans can slag the ref off on here but the coach in a post match interview is wrong, expect a letter from RFL and a £300 fine.

that annoys me.greg mcallum used to admit the ref had made an error,they had discussed it and hopefully it wouldn't happen again. no problem for me.
under cummings the most obvious mistake he says the ref was right. he makes himself look stupid

Huddersfield deserved their win but the ref was shocking, this is what Morgan is trying to say.

He's not blamed the referee for our defeat (we lost because we were pretty bad). He's raised a seperate issue of the poor standards we have to put up with week after week from certain officials.

Like I've said a few times, if I was as bad at my job as some of these "professional" referees are at theirs, I'd get sacked immediatley.

Giving constructive criticism is one thing, insinuating a referee was bias is something completely different. Any validity he had in his claim is overshadowed by quotes like that.

Morgan is clearly a sore loser, this is all it boils down to.

He can say whatever he wants. All this 'don't criticise the refs', etc. is laughable.

He made a couple of major errors in that game - which is allowable, I guess, as long as he learns from them...e.g. in future dont shout "play on" when you mean "tackled", simple things like that.

Maybe if he wants to seriously raise issues about refs, he should perhaps refrain from raising the issue straight after his team got a thumping. It just smacks of sour grapes. Just a thought.

And perhaps through a more appropriate channel than an after-match press conference?

I know it's not the case but why shouldn't it be? He should be allowed to say whatever he wants, like yourself and I can.

See my earlier post (or think of it like public criticism of the moderation process on here). There are ways and means (if he's got real complaints) – a public attack on an officials isn't one of them.

Correction. He should grow up, and behave like an adult. he should learn how to lose gracefully, and he should use the proper channels if he has issues with officiating.

There is no reason why he shouldn't make tempered, proportionate replies to questions. There is every reason why he shouldn't behave like an ignorant, loudmouth, obnoxious twa=white[size=9.[/sizet. Responsibilities come with his elevated position, and he has let himself, his club and the game down appallingly, and set an extraordinarily bad example.

He has also unfairly reviled one of the country's top referees, knowing the object of his cheap slurs has no right of reply.

He should be ashamed of himself. At least Ricky Stuart was man enough to recognise how inappropriately he'd behaved. I'd recommend some of the same medicine to Justine.

He's not the first and definitely won't be the last, yet the refereeing standard has dropped, if anything. Coaches are only human and it's their jobs that are on the line at the end of the day.

The bottom line here is Hudds were too good for HKR,and the coach should except that, its is players who he should be slagging off not the Ref.

That, with respect, is just your lightweight view. I would say that - professional referee slaggers aside (and there are a fair few of those)- we have seen a lot of excellent refereeing this season so far, and the situation is (to any but the blind and irreversibly prejudiced) a whole lot better than the penaltythons we were having this time last year.


Don't make me laugh, whatever went on in that game, nothing the referee did bore any relation to Morgan's job tenure, which is hardly under threat. Even in the heat of the moment, Morgan was not speaking out of control, he'd no need to go overboard.

And whether or not his "job is on the line", this was in any case nothing to do with his attack. It was a very personal tirade making very specific and apalling accusations of incompetence.

He's spitting his dummy put pure and simple. He's well within his rights to question and even complain about a referees performance but there are proper channels and I would suggest moaning in the media is not the best way to go about it.

As for refs been wrapped in cotton wool, what good would it do if Cummins came out and the ens of every round critisising his employees in the press, I'm sure they review the performances and try and improve. The moaning about referees by fans and managers alike is laughable at times.

Refs make mistakes, players make mistakes and managers make mistakes, its human nature, deal with it.

The refs do a very difficult job, the are making these decisions at match pace and often make decisions based on what the touch judge says apart from televised games they don't have the luxury of replays on TV. As I said the berating of referees by managers is getting stupid and I hope Morgan gets punishment for his latest outburst, he seems to be a very sore loser.

If Justin kept quiet and approached the RFL about Mr Thaler's performace do you really think anything would be done about it? Nope. You can slam him as unprofessional or whatever you want, but referees need to be brought down from their pedestals and made accountable for their p*ss poor performances publicly!

Why? what would it achieve? probably a drop in refereeing numbers I would suspect.

You are taking it as a "given" that there was something wrong with the referee's performance. That is your error as it is just the opinion of Morgan and some disgruntled fans of the losing team. Such reports as I've read, for example, don't slag off the ref.
