| Promotion and relegation is part and parcel of sport and Salford had every right to wildly celebrate avoiding it in the most dramatic fashion since Jimmy Glass scored for Carlisle in 1999 (look it up on YouTube kids!)
The whinge about players losing their jobs is a red herring. There are millions of jobs besides playing rugby. I'd love to be a professional sportsman but I'm not good enough at any sport to make a living from it so I have to do something else. If players are good enough to play in Super League then they will either be good enough to keep their team in it to begin with, or good enough to earn a move to another club. If they aren't good enough then they'll have to play part time at a lower level or no longer play the game at all, just like all the rest of us who aren't good enough.
I feel some sympathy with fans but highs and lows are a part of sport at every level. It might sound holier than thou when my team are in the Grand Final, but if Wires lose next week I will feel the way Rovers fans do now. The long term impact on the club won't be as damaging of course, but the pain on the night will be. Likewise if we win I will be happier than I ever have been watching the game, but Salford fans will be equally elated now. They aren't Super League Champions but they have achieved a goal in amazing fashion against massive odds. That is incredible no what the level of the success.
The genuine Hull KR fans will be back next season in the Championship, just like the fans of the clubs already there are, and good luck to them. The less committed who drift away, and some always do in these situations, because they aren't in SL and playing against Hull FC are free to do as they please, but tough.
People who don't like P&R say it shouldn't be compared to football because RL players aren't millionaires. Neither are footballers further down the pyramid but they still have P&R because that's sport. The impact of dropping out of the Football League is probably the same as dropping out of Super League but it still happens every year and in a few non league levels further down than that too.
I sympathise genuinely with people who have normal day jobs at a club who may now be under threat due to cost cutting. That is unfortunate, but you know the risks and as I say, it's by no means exclusive to Rugby League.
Anyway sorry for rambling. Tough s*** Ben Cockayne. Well done Gaz O'Brien. Brilliant match.

| Will clubs now learn that appointing former players to off-field roles based solely on their reputation as a player is a recipe for disaster? Peacock signed a bunch of substandard players, a substandard coach, suspended Hull KR's best player at the most important part of the season, reinstated himself as a player and ended up standing around watching as Salford scored the winning drop goal because he wasn't fit enough to put pressure on the kicker.

| Getting relegated like that is one grim end to Jamie Peacock's career, especially as it originally ended by winning the Treble. As you say though, he wasn't qualified to do the job in the first place. He was also whinging about it not being fair in his Daily Mirror column this morning. Unlucky.

Of course its unacceptable. The media and papers like the daily mail will totally exaggerate the story though. I wouldn't mind too much if they gave as much coverage to the actual game but they won't.
There are loads of my friends talking about Salford on social media this evening. Most of them are big football fans who have very little interest in rugby league. They are talking about how exciting the game was, what a comeback etc and are delighted that their local rugby team won. Not one of them has mentioned the fighting at the end of the game. I wish the media would at least give a balance between the positives and negatives from today's game.

Please can you measure the term 'loads' please? I saw approx 4 or 5 people throwing punches. Totally unacceptable and from viewing the video someone has posted on the internet it should be easy to identify some of those idiots.
I didn't see any of the incidents out side of the ground and not sure if your term 'loads of fighting' means I missed other incidents on the pitch?

well actually it was fair but I digress.
I said peacock should have stayed retired, he has embarrassed himself and his reputation both with his comments and the way he has 'played', and I use that word loosely,

No they didnt. I was at the game and I didnt invade the pitch. A fair percentage did invade the pitch. I was asking how many were fighting. I saw a handful fighting. I wouldnt describe this as 'loads' but maybe there are incidents I am unaware of?

| gallanteer you're out of order. There was probably as many hull kr fans actually fighting as there were salford. Most of the salford fans on the pitch were celebrating, and rightly so! Your boys took one hell of a beating!

The video evidence suggests otherwise, especially the one from the side opposite the Roger Millward stand.

There is a video on youtube where you can see someone in a salford shirt not doing anything pushed to the ground and kicked (presumably by a hull kr).

As you weren't at the game I'll fill you in Salford fans celebrating with the players ok but a lot of them ran straight past the players to the east stand goading the rovers fans and the fighting went on for quite a while the video that's online shows part of it but there was a lot before and a lot after I said to my mate they'd be trouble today as its bad enough when salford bring 100 fans never mind a 1000

| And rovers fans were complete angels in it all were they? how there hasn't been trouble at craven park before now i don't know, there are always some nobs giving it to the away fans in the north stand?
Salford seem to have an unruly element that attach themselves to games like these, but you hardly ever see them at regular games.

| The tension last year when we played Wakefield was incredible. All day you felt sick before the match then during it was awful.
So when you get two teams whose fan base is made up of a load of chavs like today - they are and they both have history for this. You were bound to get some disorder. It wasn't heysel or anything though. From the video I've seen most of them look like kids - who can't throw a punch properly.
Start both Salford and KR on minus 20 points next season or make them play in front of empty grounds that will nip it in the bud.

I was there last year and I've got to say that both fans and clubs (with the exception of Jimmy Lowes) remained respectful throughout the game and in the celebrating/commiserating afterwards

I agree. Thought the Bulls fans handled it really well last year and there was just general relief from the Wakefield crowd.

| "It's what happens with relegation and when all the funding in the top league is nowhere near the same in the second." Said Hull KR coach, James Webster.
Well, no s**t, Batman?
I wasn't bothered who won the MPG up to the point where the bleating from Hull KR started. They like all SL teams were happy to take the money for themselves but as soon as it doesn't suit them any more, we get this.
Championship teams have had to get by on scraps for years and SL was happy to let it happen.
For Hull KR it is simple...they have failed to win sufficient games to qualify for SL whereas other teams have.
It is sport and losers get nothing and now they know what that means.
Less than impressed by JP too.
