You're in cloud cuckoo land to claim the try was flukey. Jordan tansey, millenium magic is flukey. Lee smiths try was a combination of try scoring instinct and a tired wigan defence.

Smith beat 3 players to ground the ball, when he received the ball from sinfield there wasn't much on. Yet, with 1 minute to go, in a tryless game up to that point, in a knockout game, msith made it something to score the winning try.

Yup. Lots of needless bitterness on this thread. Everyone thought Leeds weren't up to it this year and that the new breed, the 'New Wigan' were going to join Warrington in rearranging the glory this year.

Yup. A few people were quick to write leeds off this year.

But the fact is that despite aa poor start to the season, and an indifferent first half of the season, leeds are in the semis of the cc and closing in on 4th place in the league (when many suggesting they may struggle to make the playffs).

Theres a big gap between now and the semi final. Leeds are just starting to gain in confidence and form. The last 3 weeks have been huge. You're entitled to your opinion I just think it's foolish to form an opinion on games so far away.

ALOT of people in this thread have said leeds are lucky. But they do that to teams too often for it to be down to luck.

Leeds have proved a class act in one off games in the past 3 years. Its the consistency of proving it week in week out were they stuggle. They could well win the Challenge Cup and playoffs but they're not gonna win the league.

Tough game that. Slightly bizarre OTT stuff about luck though.

Wigan are undoubtedly a hard team to beat, which is good to see. When everyone has the benefit of a bit more hindsight, it should be good news for all that Wigan look like being genuine title contenders. I know they've been narrowly KOd in playoffs in recent years but they look more like the real deal this year.

But it's not Leeds "fault" by not missing tackles & keeping Wigan tryless.

Agreed, however after initially thinking Wigan had victory snatched from them at the death, i realised that Sinfield had infact had a poor day with the boot. Most weeks Leeds would have been 2 points ahead rather than behind.

So my conclusion now is that in fact it was a pretty poor game by those teams' high standards. Neither of them coped particulary well with the conditions.

I don't think we can judge too much from this game, tbh.
