How lucky were Sunderland again?
An own goal to give them the 3 points at Boro.[/quote:28sw9fsy]
Yep gone to Boro. Sunderland very lucky, keeps them in the race.. Le Fee made the difference tonight for them.
Just hope this window doesn’t backfire on Leeds.. there will be hell to pay if it does

| At 1-0 Boro were battering them, but most of the chances fell to the wrong guy. They could have done with someone like Latte Lath. If Leeds have turned down an offer for Joseph maybe it’s an indicator they are going with what they have. A risky strategy if that’s the case. They may be looking at the table and realise we have accrued 60 odd points without a functioning centre forward so why change anything ?

| Yes, can see some sense in that but I just think it’s a risk they didn’t need to take and why not make ourselves far too good for the rest and really go for the jugular.
If we stay injury free we’ll be fine but they’ve rolled the dice, let’s hope it doesn’t come back to bite. Graham Smyth verdict piece is a good read

| Same old, same old. We are linked to everyone, have plenty of irons in the fire, the manager is waxing lyrical about bringing in players to freshen up the squad / provide cover / add competition and we just sit on our hands. Player was too expensive / wasn't available / didn't want to come - delete as appropriate. Its a very dangerous game that were yet again playing with players who started the season well now starting to flag a little (yes, ironic after a thumping 7-0 win) I understand 49ers don't want their pants pulled down on transfers etc but its starting to reach Gawwy fog platting levels when were linked with players and mysteriously fail to land any when all our nearest rivals for promotion have strengthened. I(f we can keep everyone fit and firing I still think we'll be ok but were taking a very big risk if we get a glut of injuries / have players start losing form / burnout etc.

| Yes agree, especially the scars of burnout from last season still remain. The squad is better than last year's though imo, it's got greater quality spread across the park and the midfield depth is much much better. We only have one number 10 though, so if Aaronson gets a nasty injury that would be big, same for Piroe.
Anyway, time will tell... gut feeling is we will win the league and get promoted, we are playing very well. If we have a good month this month we will be well on our way to the prem.

I think that hits the nail firmly on the head.
Stay injury free and we go up.
I had this debate with some of my Leeds friends who argue we are top of the league why do we need to sign anyone.
My view is what`s wrong with making it impossible to beat us and all successful teams/businesses have a contingency plan.
How long can Aaronson keep up the intensity?
Same with Rodon who if he gets injured we are bu$$ard as I think he holds the defence together.
Sheffield I believe have signed 7 players in January.
I think we have missed a trick with Iheancho tbh.

| It feels to me like the 49ers are only intent on buying when they know what level those players will be competing at next season. That wouldn’t be something I feel is necessarily wrong but it’s very, very risky unless you can get some good short term loans in to see us over the line. The perfect scenario is we don’t spend a penny now, we get promoted, and then sell the likes of Piroe and Joseph who aren’t up to P.L football and let the loan players like Solomon and Rothwell leave as well if better quality is available. If we do get promoted I’m sure everyone’s choice would be to have Premier League quality players brought in rather than making do with a couple of lads that were signed for and are of Championship standard. Like I say, very risky if that’s how they’re thinking but the best strategy if it comes off.

| If you look at most of the transfers around the league, apart from Le Fee, and Marcus Edwards, I don't think any of them get into our 11.
I wanted us to sign players, and it seems, so did the club, but it doesn't look like there were many good deals around, although, Alex Palmer from WBA for 2m is a deal I would have done, but it seems the club are happy, at least in the short-term with the current GK, which is a far bigger gamble than not signing a new 9 or 10.

Solomon would be good in the Prem, he's good enough at that level imo. Rothwell would be a useful squad player in the Prem.. he's looked like one of the best at this level.
Joesph needs a season on loan in the championship playing every week, theres a good player in there.
It's a difficult balancing act when you have one eye on the summer as we need as much ££££ power as possible, we'd need to spend easily in excess of £100m to stay up. But, take your eye off 'today' and it can cost you big time... someone like Iheanacho would surely have made sense as a loan, plus he's a proven goal scorer in the prem.. odd one that.

I’m not sure Solomon has the legs for Premier League football. As for Joseph, I think he’s been seriously neglected with the lack of game time offered to him. He should have been playing lots more last season and introduced when we really struggled at the back end, but Farke wasn’t brave enough. I also don’t think he’s had a fair crack this season, because no matter how poor Piroe has played, Joseph has not had a decent run to prove himself after what was initially a promising start to the season. His progression has been stifled over the last 2 seasons and we are no nearer to knowing what his real potential could be

hopefully the goal spurs him on, a season long loan wouldn't do him any harm if we go up

| Agree Tad. Joseph had a fair bit of game time in the early part of the season and didn’t take his chance. He’s not yet taken his chance off the bench either though he did look sharp and scored v Cardiff so hopefully it’s the start of something.

Saturday was an I was there day. ruthless, firpo showing why you need a left footed player at left back. aaronsson was quality too.
no incomings a suprise but unless we are really, really unlucky we should be fine. as has been said nobody else has signed someone and I've thought, wish we'd signed him.
tough game tonight. 3 points would be fantastic but just don't lose. at least coventry will show ambition. burnley are the most boring, dull side I've ever seen

| Yeah we need to go all out for a win tonight, balls to the cup, play Rothwell tonight, i don't want to see Gruev in the midfield, nor Ampadu. Rest a few for the cup, should still have enough for Milwall.

What did you think to Dan James ? Absolutely brilliant again. Some pundits are tipping him as Championship player of the year. Unplayable on that form.

| Sensational James. Been our best player all year. Best player in the championship. I thought he was the best attacker a few months back but i now think he's be outright best in the division. He's really matured nicely. Looks comfortable PL class.

| thing with james is there's too many poor moments. bad crosses, getting needlessly caught offside. plenty of great moments but just a little more consistency needed. playing very well though. I'd play gruev tonight. get a good base and go from there. tanaka switches off and loses runners

YEP report says Piroe missed the easiest chance of the game to wrap it up. Also said Solomon was offside far too often and Aaronson scored lowest because he was generally wasteful. Anyway, good 3 points and Fat Frank put back in his box.

| Yeah, outstanding performance that against an in form team who's won last 4. We should have had 7 at least. very wasteful but also very unlucky, the officiating was diabolical, was a blatant pen on Aaronson, absolute stone wall pen. Goal chalked off at the end was never offside, Lino took 20 seconds to make his decision, caved into to Cov players.
Piroe goal was superb, took it really well, was gob smacked he missed that 1 on 1 near the end as he doesn't normally miss those, their keeper had a blinder second half though. Messlier 2 saves were fabulous, Farke decision to keep him in has been justified now. Fair play.

| Yes all in all against a team coming into form we put the game to bed early then put the cue on the rack.
Infuriating in a way just how sloppy and wasteful we were at times but as said, a wins a win and if we didn't make things hard for ourselves it just wouldn't be Leeds.
Missed a hatful of chances that could've really skyrocketed our GD and cant understand how that wasn't a penalty, hey ho, the merry go round of baffling ref decisions in the Championship goes on.

my first thought was our 3rd was offside, but he was miles on. aaronson was OK. certainly not our worst player. how james got a higher marks beats me. I voted bogle as m.o.m.

Just watched the highlights. Piroe also blazed one over in the first half from 6 yards out when all he had to do was square it to James for a tap in. Don’t wonder James was livid and booted the post. You can get away with a centre forward who only takes one out of every 3 or 4 chances at this level, but that’s why Piroe will be on his bike if we go up.
