FFS we have plenty of young english players, not all are ready to be exposed to week in week out SL. The quota players we are recruiting are better than the ones we will be releasing (eg Smith, Tony, Henderson etc..) so whats the problem.

Well I certainly think it's a stupid signing.

That's fair enough but the main problem is see personally is when clubs are skint (you this year at start and Salford last) they come out saying they are determined to have a young determined British squad. Yet the second the cash comes in that idea seems to go out the window straight away! Hope it doesn't go that way with you guys!

Very risky signing considering he hasn't played league for a while and is 33. Could be a great signing or could fail, time will tell.

As I have said at the moment a large percentage of the 2012 squad is british - so far the quota players are replacing less capable current quota players so the comments from some are wide of the mark. We clearly need to improve the squad from this season and there is only a limited pool of players available, not all of whom are British and not all of whom would sign for Wakey/could be afforded by Wakey.

It just seems some on here have an anti Wakey mentality.

I hope so too, J20. I think it's about balance really. This year we probably overdosed on young (inexperienced) players and that showed from mid season onwards when performances fell away after the initial burst.
In our squad this time we will have, Murphy Davey, Morton, Wildie, Spiers, Trout, Walshaw, Kay, Gledhill, Griffin, Annekin who've all comr through our Academy. Depending on who stays and who goes there'll also be Howarth, Johnson, Vievers, Hyde, Moore, Mariano, George. All under 23, with only Annekin, Walshaw and Kay to yet play in a competitive first team game.
So I don't think we're doing too badly for young & British at the moment.

One huge positive to come out of Wakefield's initial troubles, is that a lot of your academy guys now have considerable SL experience from this season, which they otherwise wouldn't have had.

That can only be a good thing.

You are right but I think this signing poses more risks than others.

Huh? He's hardly blocking the way for our yoof to come through. His experience will help Sarginson develop and take the pressure off him, allowing him to slot in comfortably in the team. This is the type of signing that will help young players, not hinder them.
