Crux of the matter seems to be:

At any cost? The only 'cost' here will be on Rovers if Mason's passport doesn't come through by the time Dobson's fit. I would have thought you'd be delighted with that possibility.

The point I'm trying to make is that the RFL seem to want high profile players here and seem happy to let this be facilitated regardless of the impact on the game in general.

I guess the only thing i could see is that it gives clubs the option of signing an overseas player for a part of the season if one of their overseas contingent goes down. I don;t see this as a negative except it reduces opportunity for a younger english player to step up.

The rules never stopped HKA signing Mason. They stopped them signing Mason, and 5 others.

The aforementioned picture showed Dobson attending last Saturday's open training session. I believe he paid his fiver like all the other fans!

Do Saints have an overseas quota space free to sign Dobson now he's a free agent and Eastmond looks like he's heading for an early exit?

I've seen those pictures. Looking into this further, I've also found a picture of him playing for Wigan.
