MSK is a re-brand for setanta or setanta ireland or something. I wonder if it's a permanent deal or whether they've struck something together until a proper deal with someone else has been thrashed out? Only thinking that because theres been no press about it.

Looks promising that we may finally have some NRL on our screens. I just hope we get it over here and it is not broadcast just in Ireland. Looking at their schedule, it is predominantly Irish sports based. We were only lucky enough to see state of origin last year on setanta Ireland, as setanta already held the NRL rights for the UK, but if something was shown on setanta Ireland ie F1 or premiership football that setanta did not have UK rights for then it was scrambled for British viewers.

Great news would have prefered Sky to have picked it up but at least the rights issue has been sorted, anybody know if they will show Anzac test and State of Origin to ?

Sort of.
Its not on Virgin BT or Freeview.
But it is on FTA Sat which means you dont need to subscribe to sky to watch it.
However the last time I flicked this channel on it had a test card saying
Setanta PPV
So maybe they will be going as a PPV channel.
Normally they show a couple hours of GAA or sailing a week so they can stay on the SKY EPG. |

Well, MSK has plenty of empty broadcasting slots available. I guess that they must have some kind of plan in mind, to operate 2 channels when they only have enough material to fill maybe 10% of one channel.

I'm happy to have the NRL on MSK if they have are willing to broadcast 3 games a week, hopefully there is space for the monday night game.
There was still talk of one game going onto ESPN recently.

The programming on MSK is sporadic to say the least at the mo. The next programme will be the NRL on Friday. That said I turned it on last night when some GAA stuff was said to be on and all I got was the test card. Do we have any reason to believe that this will be different by Friday, or will I get home on Friday night to find I've recorded two and half hours of vertical coloured bars?!
Does anyone have any insight?

Well there's been no official press release from the NRL announcing any sort of deal done for UK TV rights, so I'm not holding out much hope that we'll be able to see it.
If we do see some NRL on MSK, I'm sure it wont be a permanent deal because nothing has been announced anywhere. |
