Learning to play Rugby League to a semi decent standard might be a start.

So you suggest they ' train ' 16 hours per day after just playing a hard season , after being travelling for 30 odd hours ?

30 hours from England to Australia?
Which way do you think they go?
You don't have to train 16 hours a day.... but when you are as poor as England it might be advisable to do a bit more than they are currently doing

| Quote ="Barry_McKenzie".......a free end of season holiday...and nothing more.
No one seems to care about doing the important things... ie actually winning games. I cant find the quote but I've read somewhere that Steve McNamara has said the idea to go down under for the 4 nations is 'to have a good time'
Barry McKenzie witnessed first hand the way the England side were in Australia in 2008 during the world cup. I saw members of the team walking around Surfers Paradise making cracks about the women and laughing and joking amongst themselves....on more than one occasion. I personally saw one local threaten to put quite a prominent member of the England team on his árse for making comments about his girlfriend.... pity he didnt. I saw 6 or 7 of the squad (including Tony Smith and Steve McNamara) visiting Australia Zoo in Qld whilst giggling and pushing each other around like a group of prepubescent school girls. Keith Senior was rooting some old slapper rather than doing what he was supposed to be doing...until his girlfriend found out. No wonder he wasn't allowed to go this time
I saw members of the England squad on the trams in Melbourne belching loudly and pushing each other around.
In the past the GB team have spent more time doing the Bridge climb in Sydney and sunbathing on Manly beach than actually trying to win games.
Nothing wrong with any of that.... well most of it anyway....if you are a tourist. God only knows I've done worse.
But if you are a so called Rugby League professional representing your country in what has to be considered the biggest international RL competition...maybe you should be putting more thought into playing the game rather than doing the tourist thing.
Especially when you havent won a trophy since Jesus was in kindergarten
The whole England Rugby League set up needs to have a good long look at itself.'"
So, nothing as 'bad' as the extra-curricular activities of a certain Australian RL legend over as player on the '82 tour then ?

Bad behaviour from sportsmen is nothing new ... doesnt make it right.
But if you are an ordinary player in an ordinary team its wise to use your time constructively rather than eating icy poles, rooting old molls and sunbathing.

Where on earth are you staying in Sydney?
Your hotel must be about 5 hours away from the airport going on your figures

| obviously there has to be some winding down but not to the point where the players are basically taking the . Your there to win Rugby League matches and not treat it as a free holiday in the Sun.
The question you need to ask is would NZ or Australian players be doing the same thing?

So you admit you cannot do the trip in under 30 hours , flying time alone is around 23/24 , LA to Sydney is 13 hours , then 2/3 hours before flying , minimum 2 hours stop over half way
Anyway Barrie you most probably are correct , we will lose to both the convicts and the world champions , then again personnally I couldn't care less how we do

Why do you not care about your country's own team.
I don't get this I'm not bothered about England attitude, surely the pinnacle of our game is for your country to do well in any International competition,I would give anything for England to win the World Cup in 2013.

| Luke Robinson postponed his wedding to represent his country in this 4 Nations tournament while Stuart Fielden flew out literally hours after the birth of his first child. Sounds to me like at least two of them are taking it seriously

Its around 13 hrs to Singy from London and then 7 or so to Sydney.. depending on your carrier...and what day of the week you fly. The stop in Singapore is usually only about an hour and a half.
And the advantage of going that way is there are no Seppo immigration people trying to spoil your day like they do at LAX
Im assuming you fly Air New Zealand then... or United?

I might watch the NZ one to see if I can spot my brother in the crowd at the Cake tin , but in all honesty we are that bad it is embarrassing really , I just dont feel an ' afiliation ' with the players , Now if it was Championship team taking on France locally , I'd probably go

Hey... its a tough choice.
Get married to some chick in a registers office in Wigan... or fly on an all expenses paid holiday to Australia and New Zealand with the lads... business class naturally.
A real tough one.....

Englands a nice enough place to visit.. plenty of history and funny looking buildings... but I seriously cant see the Australian team enjoying the sun sea and surf over here in November. People dont visit the UK for the leisure side of things.
And with respect... it's not exactly the culinary empire of western europe is it...so you would be unlikely to come for the food.
Unless you like that good old pommie dish 'bubble and squeak'...which if I'm not mistaken is a better way of describing refried left overs
