| I have to say that although it is a tad tiresome that Hull Kingston Australians overseas roster has contributed to about 15 threads and 2,000 posts to date, this off season on RLFANS.COM has been very enjoyable
What with everyone guessing which team will be ejected and who will replace them, Big Tongan Willie getting back to his roots, the RFL moving goal posts on an almost daily basis and shovels hitting dirt at Salfords new stadium, it certainly hasn't been boring on here

Wouldn't say we're a small club personally, if we are then WTF are the likes of Fulcrubronquins, Salford, Crusaders etc?! (no disrespect to any of those clubs / Experiment).

| haha the day we can learn anything of the failure that is Quins RL (ffs!) is the day we should pack it in. No fans, no money, poor team, identity and sustainability reliant on some ruggers team. Oh but we won a fair play award
How's that playing roster going? Likely to get out of the bottom 3 this year?

| Sorry if this has been covered before, but I'm just trying to double check I've got this right:
Is there really a difference between being "quota" and being "non-fed trained" if you can have any combination of the two witha maximum of five? Does it really matter?
Are the five "non-fed" players at KR Mason, Clinton, Webster, Green and Dobson?
And are the five "exemptions" at KR Galea, Fisher, Vella, Newton and Lovegrove?
Has Galea got his exemption? And if so how? Wasn't the point of the exemptions to be fair to the players that came over to play in the UK under the old rules? Galea came over here as a quota player, surely? Why should be exempt just because he has access to a passport that he never used to work originally?

| Wellsy lovegrove has dispensation so is fed trained.
Galea was supposed to get a eu passport and then would go non fed due to him been here for the 2008 rule.
He didn't so no matter what passport Mason held he shouldn't have been allowed to sign.

| not sure on the Galea situation
re Lovegrove and Mason
Mason is non quota non fed trained
Lovegrove is quota fed trained
now if you can have 5 quota fed trained and 5 non quota non fed trained I don't know? In theory you could have 5 Australians who moved to UK at 17 and 5 Pacific Islanders who moved here this season, I think.
figure it out and let me know when you do please!

Lovegrove would qualify as fed-trained as 2008er - his dispensation allows us to count him as club-trained, even though he didn't complete a [ufull[/u season with us as an academy age qualified player prior to 2008.
Galea is fed-trained (2008 rule), but remains on quota as his Maltese passport did not come through. Thus our quota remained full - Clinton, Webster, Green, Dobson, Galea. We could not sign Mason as a quota player. Could we sign him as an off-quota, but non-fed player (ie Tongan)? Yes. Because on the non-fed register we only have Clinton, Green and Dobson (+ Mason). So Mason's passport was crucial.

Lovegrove is off-quota with a UK passport, I believe. His family are from Swindon originally, iirc. On the Hull KR board I've done by best to go through what has happened with Hull KR with regards to the non-fed rule since it was introduced in 2008 (also covering the quota rule that we now know to be seperate), in my 'brief history'.

Doesn't have an EU passport (so quota) but was here before 2008 (so Fed Trained). Before we were aware of the two list system such a combination would not have made a difference. Now it does.

So why would he need a eu passport if he is classed as fed trained anyway?

| Hang on...
I thought that you could have any combination of quota or non-fed players, so long as they didn't exceed 5 in your squad (i.e. 5Q 0NF, 4Q 1NF, 3Q 2NF, 2Q 3NF, 1Q 4NF, 0Q 5NF). So what difference does it make if someone is on the quota or is non-fed? If you have 3Q and 2NF, and a quota players becomes "non-fed", then you have 2Q 3NF, which is still the 5 in your squad you're not allowed to exceed? This is what confuses me as it seems pointless to have a differentiation between the two!
Having a European passport does not make you UK trained, so regardless of whether you can obtain one of not doesn't make a jot of difference (that was the point of the new quota system, surely?). It only matters to those who were here BEFORE the quota system came in place, and they were given exemptions as UK trained players (or in Lovegroves case, somehow a club trained player!).
So, I don't understand how Rovers have got 6 playesr that are neither club trained, exempt, or UK trained?

| It must be a worry for the Hull KR fans that he hasnt even arrived yet. He struggled at times last season with his fitness (Micheal Smith-lite) and yet here we are, weeks from the start of the season and he hasnt had a minutes pre season training under his belt.
He is going to fail spectacularly.

Stop trolling.
I don't think Hull fans (or SL fans in general) have a problem with Mason coming. It's the fact that they appear to be over the quota limit. If they offloaded a quota player for Mason then no-one would be bothered. But somehow they've been allowed to get around the system in a way that no-one seems to really be able to understand. There are plenty of quota places left all over the league, so jealousy (which is what you are implying) that others can't get away with it is not the case. Other clubs don't need to get away with it because they don't have that many quota players!

yeah right. man if i were a fc fan id be more worried about getting the most potential out of what should be one of the strongest SL clubs than what a club which is half the size of my own does.
