| The reason for 12 clubs instead of 14, Is so the bigger clubs get a bigger share of the Tv money from SKy. its all down to greed.
If the RFL want a good Super League, they want to look at what is good for the game.
How many season ticket holders do Quins and Crusdaers have. They rely on too much away support to bump the crowds up.
Do they want 3000 average crowds or 7000 plus that Widnes, Castleford and Wakefield can get.

| for franchising to work there have to be clubs outside SL who can put pressure on the weaker SL clubs
without a credible threat of expulsion, nothing will change
with widnes breathing down their neck, wakey will try their best now to get the ground.
its too late but will help the club in the long term building up in the championship for future tilt back into sl

There's a huge difference between what Celtic have done & what Wakey, Salford & Cas are proposing. Celtic's move from Bridgend to Wrexham is aking to Wakey or Cas deciding to share a ground with (say) Leicester Tigers RU club just to take advantage of the superior stadium in a completely different location - thus requiring a completly different fan base.
At least the other 3 are looking at moving a couple of miles just as Wigan & Hull FC have done in recent years.

there is a big difference, nobody argued there wasnt. Just against your idiotic use of pejorative words to describe what is essentially a good thing. Crusaders now having a better stadium is a good thing. That they now may get more fans is a good thing. That they now are a better prospect and have done more of what the RFL have asked of them is a good thing, not a cynical attempt to gain a license
A cynical attempt to gain a license would be for Castleford to slightly reconfigure their current ground so that it then holds 12k without actually improving it instead of getting the new ground they have promised.
and At least Crusaders will be playing in a stadium owned by the people who own them, they arent requiring a hand out from the council and ing and moaning when they arent given millions of tax payers £££££s like numerous other clubs have
give credit where it is due and criticise where it is due. There is problems in Wales, but improving and doing things better isnt one of them, nor is it 'a cynical attempt to gain a license'. Its exactly what they bloody should be doing

Crusaders clearly needed to do something as the basic concept of their original franchise application was to take the top level of the sport into a completely new area. Their success in doing so is easily measured by the fact they've moved to Wrexham.
The Wrexham move is more likely to work out for them as they're now much closer to the heartland of RL support. But if that doesn't prove successful are we going to see them move to another area to try again somewhere else?
You can argue that this is one of the "advantages" of the franchise system much as it's used in the USA where teams in the NFL/NBA/MLB/NHL can simply move to another city at the whim of the owners, but that isn't what the RFL intended by creating the franchises for SL.
If Crusaders couldn't make a SL team work in Bridgend, they should have handed back their franchise and made do with the lower leagues.
On a separate point, Wakey certainly haven't had "millions" from WMDC and indeed have had less money from the RFL during our time in SL than other clubs have had. We had no TV money in our first year and Huddersfield & Hull also got substantial handouts following the failure of their respective mergers with Sheffield & Gateshead.

You should not judge others by your own low standards, but you do that frequently don't you
The Keighley "situation" in 1995 is a whole different story, that "mid season" decision effectively bankrupt the club. Whilst you'll find that most fans have "have moved on", it does not mean that we should forget. It was a very poorly handled situation, would not happen in any other sport and as supporters we should do all in our power to stop it happening again.
I did hope that franchising might put an end to this type of scenario but lets just watch the fur fly if superleague is reduced to twelve AND a championship side are promoted. We do not appear to learn from our mistakes.
IMHO we need expansion but we also need stability ..... as they say we live in interesting times.

| Surely sticking with 14 clubs is the way forward. As people have suggested this would allow more opportunities for young British players to make it at top level with more Super League squad places available. The smaller share of the Sky money would be a good thing too as it would encourage clubs to seek increased revenues through gate receipts, sponsorship and merchandising. They would need to engage more with the community to achieve this and in turn the club, junior development, the community and the game as a whole would benefit.

theres no sun at 1 am in the morning.
but then again ive heard the sun sets up north in england sometimes in the afternoon so the sun isnt exactly an area of expertise there.
do you know how cold your summers are in comparison to our winters?
heck i was in london for 4 days of straight rain and when the sun came out for an hour i almost fainted.
