Castleford's average in London is 3,208 over 17 SL visits. Top crowd was 8,067 when Jungle.com bussed them down, lowest was last year 1,810.
I suspect this will be the first of a few sub 1k gates in London this year, but that said, Thursday April 17th is the home London game I'd highlight as having the potential to be a record breaking low....500 is the record for SL.

When was there a 500 crowd in SL?

If we ignore London who're just a shambles of a club and on their way out of SL what's the increase based on the other 6 games?

I don't think we can do that, I understand the philosophy in terms of getting rid of outliers. But if we did that to London, then we should have done that to Saints 2 years ago when our crowds almost doubled, from being a nomadic club to a nice new central stadium club.
Every year there will be exceptional reasons for increases and decreases, Salford up this year due to the impact of Marwan. Bradford down due to debarcle [size=85(v 4.0)[/size. Wakey with their ground issues, Hull KR with the new stand, you see the point. There will always be explanations, but it's the overall pattern that really matters. If we can take the hits and still show increases then that's a good thing. To be fair as London where low anyway, there drops when combined in the overall figures make little headway. The biggest pull back on the figures will be the drops at Bradford and Wakey.
I'm quite interested in Saints figures this year. I expected a 2nd season drop at the new ground as those who bought in year 1 would not all renew. I'd hope that over the next 5 years though the growth would be more sustained back to that first year level. That's how it seemed to go for Wigan following their move.

| The game last night was 17.66% down on last season. Stay away fans sticking two fingers up at Thursday night fixtures perhaps?
SL attendances are currently 2.75% up on last season from 35 games played. Most notable gainers so far are Salford +107.37%, Hull KR +26.95%, Castleford +23.04%, Huddersfield +18.97% and St Helens +10.24%. Last season, Salford were -43.22%, Hull KR -3.74%, Castleford -4.92%, Huddersfield -17.40% and St Helens -19.46%.
Wigan home attendances are worrying. They were -9.34% down last year and the downward trend continues this year at -7.33% down after 3 home games.

| I doubt it's anything to do with Thursday nights.
More than a worry for Wigan, there would be more cause for concern for Warrington. They have had arguably their 2 biggest home draws (yes on a Thursday). But Wigan still have the home fixtures against Saints and Wire, which will provide their figures a boost.
Last year Wigan played Wire at home with 20000+ in their first 3 games.
This year they have not had that early boost.

Your logic is flawed because the attendance comparisons I posted relate to the same fixtures played between the same teams last season. Wigan's attendances can only be provided with a boost by the bigger home draws percentage-wise if the attendances at those games turn out to be higher than last year. In other words, they'll require attendances higher than 20,050 and 23,861 against Warrington and St Helens respectively in order for their figures to be boosted.
Wigan attendances were 9.34% down last year and currently 7.33% down this year.
Warrington attendances were 7.15% down last year and currently 4.93% down this year.
Both clubs are suffering drops in attendances but Wigan's are currently the more worrying of the two.

| I follow a few wire fans on twitter and they're not overly happy with the start to the season so maybe plenty others are feeling the same and are picking there games.
If i was a wigan fan i wouldn't be happy about letting so many of there better players go at the end of last season.
The self proclaimed biggest rugby club in the world now just a selling club must be quite gutting for them.

| 11,500 was a dire attendance considering Wigan's big travelling support. Can't have been much more than 9,000 Wire fans there?

| On the other hand, Leeds, Huddersfield (currently up 1k on last year) and St Helens attendances don't seem to be suffering at all, so I'm not going to buy any of the 'we will make the top 8 anyway, so it's not worth turning up' arguments.

i thought it was a poor crowd, in terms of warrington v wigan, the game everyone wants to see, the big grudge match,re-run of the grand final etc and probably less than 9,000 warrington fans there?
i thought the idea of expanding the HJ was to accomodate all these wire fans that wanted to be there for the big games vs wigan and saints?
it's not a dig, just an observation, has the wire bubble burst slightly now?

| How much is it normally at Wire. £28 is a bit on the steep side. I can get that for the centre gold section at Saints.
Surely £28 was not behind the sticks??? You must be one of the posh lot who like to sit on the sides.

| Nope. You pay more for seating on the sides at any ground. Home or away fans. So bit of a cheeky dig at Wire there it seems.
Back to attendances last nights crowd at Leeds down 25 on the previous season. So even though an easy win was on the cards, the fans still turned out.

This is a disgrace! Why are those 25 fans staying away? Rugby league is dying.

Interesting that they are claiming a World record club RU attendance, but also the commentators were joking that a lot of fans had turned up dressed as red seats

I am watching the game now and i honestly can't believe they are trying to tell people that the attendance is 83K its not even close to that spare seats on every row and section. But got to hand it to them for the massive publicity stunts that they have been doing for the past 3/4 seasons.
