I've read quite a few articles on this virus, from all sides of the debate, and yes, there are people who disagree on the severity of it all - This post though totally wins the argument...

What more can be added to this??

Believe in what you want but if it was purely scaremongering from everyone involved, including Governments then I just don't get it.

Forget about measuring the severity of this situation by how many people may or may not die from it and ask yourself what purpose would it serve locking the entire commercial world down? There doesn't seem to be an upside for anyone, businesses going bust,people out of work/working short hours potential shortages of commodities, a meltdown on share prices, pensions and investments.....the disruption and cost is massive.

If no one wins why would they all take part for just the flu?

Gunna play the devils advocate here..if this virus is gathering momentum and our glorious leader Doris is saying don't go to pubs clubs etc then why go work why do hgvs travel up and down our motorways.mail being delivered all round the country.this weekend is mothers weekend where supermarkets will be busy and no doubt restaurants will be quite busy.why doesn't Doris shut the country down for a week or so if its that bad...and I.ll ask again does anyone know of anyone who's caught this virus.

Restaurants won't be busy. Anybody going out now, whether to a pub or restaurant, is being irresponsible.

And any grandma who chooses to go out with their kids and grandkids, or to voluntarily come into contact with them, probably deserves to catch the virus and to suffer it's worst.

So going work is irresponsible.. Can't have it both ways

Social contact should be minimal & only for essential things, which I believe work is.

Going for a Sunday roast with granny, surrounded by a pub full of similars, isn't essential.

Why anybody over 70 would be gambling with this, I don't know - And anyone having to go to work or school, shouldn't be going anywhere near over 70's at all.

Well I've just been pick my teenage son up from youth club where there was about 60 in there..on the way home I drove passed a pub which was bouncing with revellers celebrating paddys day..all irresponsible eh...you lock yourself away in your back bedroom... I'm off for a pint

Fill your boots mate... but when your parents are dying, drowning in their own snot, then don't go blabbering to anyone about how bad British healthcare is, or how poor a job the government are doing trying to stop this virus?

i have a friend abroad in intensive care... he has diabetes... so he was vulnerable.. he is in a bad way.

I have elderly parents and relatives... i have a type 1 diabetic brother who is classified as high risk.

We have clear guidelines.... we can see whats happened elsewhere.

Its this kind of selfish behaviour that will cost lives.... Your 'only' is their 'everything'.

Really sorry to hear that and hope things go well for you your parents and your brother..to me I.ll try and lead a normal sort of life as possible as no doubt you do yourself which can't be easy...

There is every chance a load of clubs go to the wall when the season gets cancelled... RL could easily be a different animal when the dust settles.

So if I decide to go for a pint with my mates and there are a couple of elderly people sat in the same pub, who shouldn't be in There?? If I'm going to Have to go to work every day, coming into contact with over a 100 people, I see no reason why I shouldn't nip for a pint after work if I want one.

Personally, I think you are all in the wrong, but like I said, if you want to put yourself and anybody else you meet in future at further risk than need be, then go ahead and fill your boots - I'm not desperate enough that I can't go a few weeks without going to the pub for a pint.

Anybody who is, is basically the modern day equivalent of the fella sat in a small room of people puffing away on his ciggy, putting all at risk just so he can enjoy his life pleasures.

If non of a club's players have any signs of the disease, what about playing behind closed doors and televised on sky.
No stewarding or policing costs, sky get to screen games. They could be spread over Thursday, Friday evenings and weekend afternoons, showing all games.

No gate receipts = the end for most clubs.

Franchise RL is the future. Your traditional sides will fold at a steady rate in the coming year.

They already have gate receipts from the 8000 or so season ticket holders.. May as well get some sky money and get the fixtures out of the way

True. However, there are also monies from other match day incomes not coming into the club.

Also, throw in that most clubs will probably have to look to reimburse supporters through a discount for the 2021 season and you can see they are going to have a hole in their already fragile budgets.
