True, at least the Tansey mistakes were real time rather than video.

| Doesn't matter as far as the result is concerned we've been poor and Cas deserve to win, but Silverwood should be dragged over the coals for that. Absolutely awful decision.

| Attitude from Cas was superb. Great coverage from the bbc claiming solomona scored a hatrick and James milner was struggling with cramp.

| Silverwood giving the first one was bad enough but to then try make up for it by disallowing what should have been a perfectly good try to "even it up" was just ridiculous.
For the first one, it's all well and good claiming you don't have a camera angle but it was clear as day he dropped it! Just awful.
For Cas to win that game though was huge. Most of the squad sat in the stand, players out of position and dominated the game.

The next video ref decision was absolutely correct. Solomona pulled the Salford winger in the air. Penalty every day of the week.

| That Try for me, showed why the VR is a joke now and should be scrapped.
At no point did was that ball ever grounded, but because of the silly system and lack of camera angles available, it had to be given, awful, just awful, thankfully it didn't affect the outcome.

| the BBC team on top form today.
Davies can't pronounce Salford, and thinks Sau is called Sa. Wilkins thinks McMeeken is called McGeechan. Woods thinks James Milner is playing hooker for Cas. Christ... it almost makes you miss the Sky Sports team.

| Well played Cas (cough, cough) but, the ref + video ref, absolutely shocking.
I'm embarrassed to be a RL supporter.
They go on about coaches bringing the game into disrepute but, for Child not to see him lose the ball and give an on field "Try" and then the VR to watch it slowed down and still give it, is just plain scandalous.
Having said that, Salford's second half performance was utterly abysmal, against 1/2 a Cas team
I can't speyk !

It didn't have to be given at all. The problem in this case wasn't the video ref principle or even the current VR system. The problem was the idiot sat in the video ref's chair.
The video CLEARLY showed the ball off the ground at all times. Only Silverwood couldn't see it, bizarrely.

| Shame that the referee decisions are overshadowing the match. Cas played with a bloody prop and a hooker at halfback today - and had to shove on an overweight Danny Tickle on because Massey came off injured with a dislocated kneecap. Insane result given the circumstances.

Child wasn't the problem at all in that. It's perfectly reasonable for him to think the ball got down initially. The problem is entirely at Silverwood's door.

| Cas thoroughly deserved it, they totally out-enthused Salford.
McShane had a superb game whereas Dobson had a mare.
Swings & Roundabouts with the decisions, but out of the three, the officialdom came bottom - just.

Kind of what i meant, most fans would accept that referee's , in real time, make mistakes, but for a full time official to not see anything to suggest that the ball wasn't grounded is disgraceful and unacceptable!

Agreed
If that is the best that a VR can manage, we should do without them completely.
The on field decision process just doesn't work.

| The only thing to come out of this game for first time watchers is that the Cas pitch is much smaller than all pitches. Jeeez. How many times did they have to mention this. Oh and also that VR decision hahahahaha. Crazy.

| A great, gritty performance from Cas - full credit to them; in a season of injury excuses, they rolled their sleeves up and found a way to win, despite being as badly hit by injuries as many other teams.
That 'try' though - what a joke.

| Cas deserved it. Salford looked lethargic and our forwards were dominated, leaving our backs to make hard yards instead of breaking lines. Halfbacks didn't gel today, and enthusiasm levels looked pretty poor. Cas played well, hard, and deserved their victory.
As for that video ref decision, probably the worst one I've ever seen.

| The VR decision was correct !
The ref awarded the try and from all the angles that the VR ref was shown at that time there was nothing definitive to suggest whether the ball was grounded or not. Hence they have to go with the on field decision.
Subsequently a different angle much later on showed the ball clearly wasn't grounded, but that wasn't shown at the time the VR had to make the call.

| I was in favour of the ref making a call like the NRL but unlike our friends down under we don't have the multi screen bunker for every game, staffed by well trained experts. I would be happy to go without VR as long as the TV company stop showing stop frame shots after the descision is made (only real time replays) it might then take away all this unnessasary agro?

I agree the later footage showed that the ball wasn't grounded (and surely it had to be asked why it wasn't shown at the time)
I would have to disagree that the footage Richard Silverwood did have wasn't conclusive though....
A poor decision in my opinion...

The footage shown later was merely a zoomed in shot of what Silverwood saw first time around and u didn't need the zoomed in shot to see he never grounded it
