So to be clear, you consider pub teams and 100% Australian Italian sides expansion and I'm an ostrich? You believe the parent organisation shouldn't come down hard on a splinter organisation set up in competition and your not whining because big bad nasty union is more popular and better run.

Nobody has 'banged on' about anything apart from you and the other union trolls. Nobody has claimed some sort of high level international conspiracy involving the IRB, what has been claimed is that the RU organisation in Morocco has been conspiring with their government to actively disrupt and ban RL, for which there is significant evidence.

No I referred to league as a splinter organisation from union....set up in direct competition to union. Because union is still bigger and more popular, some league fans think whining like a girl makes union look smaller....it doesn't
I also said in my first post on this subject that I suspect it was a local spat and it seems i was right.....but don't let that fact get in the way of another troll hunt. The governing body of rugby union have slapped down the locals who acted outside their remit......but lets sweep that aside too.

If you read Gansons Opticians post on page 2 of this thread you will see he/she mentions 1895, so i'm guessing he/she is a union troll? And I'm not sure what you mean by significant evidence, evidence means something slightly more tangible than the hearsay and comments of a student and the tour manager. It may or may not be true but at best its weak unsubstantiated evidence that would get laughed out of court.

All of us on here agree, I think, that Rugby League is a fantastic sport to watch and (for those who are able) to play. So anything that helps more people avail of the game globally is a good thing. Amazing to hear that there are now four teams up and running in Morocco and that the problems mentioned on here appear to be well on course for resolution.

That article is from 2012. There are currently no teams 'up and running' because the sport has been banned by the Moroccan government.

Apologies. I do hope the assistance now being given at EU Parliament level will help those people in Morocco who want to play Rugby League. I wonder if Hussein M'Barki is still around and might be able and willing to give support as an 'elder statesman' of Moroccan Rugby League?

I think Hussein was involved a decade or so ago but there was no money available from the International board to fund the game there.

Make what you will of that. Just asked the question to Rabathos Rugby League Morocco on Facebook and that is what they replied. It sounds like the sports minister has told them RL has to be administered by their RU and they aren't having it. Give them a follow and show/give them a little support.

Either their government is very very dumb and can't figure out the difference between two sports with a similar name or union is once again showing its true colours and influencing decisions to the detriment of RL. If your Gutters you'll believe a third scenario that it is somehow RL's fault, the rest of the sensible world can see it is far more likely to be Union wkers sabotaging.

Funny how these things only happen in countries that have a union presence, if you think it's not a result of union pressure you're very deluded.

Does it ever happen to other sports? No. Does it ever happen in countries where there's no union presence? No.

Indeed.....the French RL were decimated by the actions of the dastardly Unionites.
They were destroyed to the extent that the French didn't host international games after the war until the European Championships in 1946, the touring Kiwis a year later, The Kangaroos in 1949, they definitely didn't tour down under in 1951 or spend 800,000 francs on the World Cup trophy in 1954, or make the final that year.....yep, they were decimated.
What's gone on and is going on around the world is a nice excuse that some people can roll out to explain the utter failings of the sport to expand outside of its heartlands.

28 professional top tier teams playing in 2 comps globally. 11 are located along 1 motorway in the north of England and 9 are from 1 city in Australia......71% from 2 small areas. Yes, it's not fair that the media tend to ignore us unless it's a negative story and yes, it's annoying that Union can fill Twickenham for the opening of an envelope, but instead of whining about it, why not do something about it?

Start by filling whatever stadiums the RFL eventually announce for the Kiwis tour.......but I suspect there will be more whining about travel/transport costs, late scheduling and lack of leg room at stadiums........because that's the RL way!

Hopefully the EU can have some impact on this. It's difficult enough to try and establish and grow a sport anyway nevermind with another sport actively working against you. Especially when they have influence at government level.

Apparently the IRB have told the MRFU to back off.......so its more likely this local spat will be resolved now anyway and the game can flourish un impeded
