| Quote ="Andy Gilder"Changing Chief Execs every 3 months "by mutual agreement" doesn't seem like a particularly "business savvy" way to run any organisation.'"
Quote He told the Manchester Evening News: "Ed will be going back to Australia after a handover period.
"He will be replaced by someone with no rugby background, someone who has done business development for [iblue chip companies[/i for the last 20 years.
"I made it clear when I took over that I would give people chances and I don't care who it is - a cleaner, an administrator, a player or a coach.
"If someone is not doing it we need to move them on, but Ed has not been sacked. I just think it is for the best."
'"
The Dr had about a week in mid January to negociate the takeover of the Club , Avoid a Winding up Petition & Hire a Chief Exec.
The Tansfer embargo was only lifted a week before the season started , the Kit arrived 2 days before the 1st Home game against Wigan .
Farish has got us up & running but long-term he obviously felt a new appointment was neccessary .
Since then he's worked tirelessly to plan for a successful future & to raise the profile of the Club at both Local & National Level .
He's very candid & quotable which has endeared him to some & annoyed just as many others.
The previous owner hung onto players & backroom staff to the detriment of the club at times, you cannot say that of this guy. he's not afraid to make ' big decisions '
I know the guy he has brought in to replace & it's a left-field appointment that may surprise afew .
I'm certain it won't be the last .

| Excellent! Another thread about Dr Koukash to join the one on here a couple of weeks ago, the one on TotalRL, a bit of moaning in the Rangi Chase thread on the Castleford forum, six pages of impotent rage on the Warrington forum.....I'm sure there's more but, given people's propensity to spell his name in some variation that includes 'cash' and 'cow' and to keep using it like they've hit on some previously undiscovered seam of gold in Barry Cryer's gag-mine, it's difficult to search for them.
I appreciate some people would prefer he went about his business in the time honoured Rugby League manner ("[iPsst! We've signed someone. Pass it on"[/i), because it allows them to complain about how invisible we are in the media, but, as he says, he doesn't work that way. Instead, we're now getting more column inches than Ron Jeremy, and people can't stop talking about us on internet forums, even if it's only to complain about how people are talking about us on internet forums (a kind of paradoxical circularity that I quite like: thanks Tigerade).
So, muchos gracias to everyone on here who has helped keep us in the spotlight. We couldn't have done it without you.

| Love this quote. "He will be replaced by someone with no rugby background" - As if thats a gamebreaker.
Winds up with fans of teams like Wakey & Salford taking the moral high ground about other teams finances, especially when certain other teams have never actually gone belly up compared to their particular teams.
As for the Dr, I really don't care, Salford are irrelevant to me but I'd happily wager that Salford will not be top 4 next year, unless they field 14 players week in week out.

When it comes to RL, he is clueless. Publicity stunts, standing with fans, signing Tomkins/Morley, we won't get thrashed again, I will break the salary cap, we will be world champions in 2 years, signing Usain Bolt...etc
Listen mate just STFU and get on with it...or Pi55 off back to horseracing.

| Wow didn't realise there was so much hatred towards this guy, I started the thread to see what people think. I think he is good for the game as long as it lasts as any publicity is good. People in Manchester might actually get hear about Salford and make the effort, you never know.

Can you let us know when Salford went 'belly up' please as I must have missed it? Also when have any Salford fans taken the high moral ground about any other club's finances?
Salford are that irrelevant to you, you are on a thread about Salford offering to make bets about where Salford will finish next season.

As a Hull FC fan, I think it is great for RL in general.

He's only spent 1.6 million keeping the club going this season and has taken on over £5 million worth of debt, so no, he's not spent that much.

| I don’t understand the massive over reaction from some, it’s good to see another club with the resources to have a serious go at winning the completion. It will certainly shake up the status quo. He knows how to get in the media, this is something RL desperately needs, especially with the BBC so close. Why on earth that gets peoples’ goat I don’t know.
No doubt it will take time to be successful but with an improved team and his penchant for getting people’s attention it will hopefully mean next year’s crowds will be closer to the magic 10000 average break even figure.
I read earlier in the year he was looking to purchase the SCS. Is this still on the cards?

Yes he is, he's still in negotiations with the stadium owners, Peel Holdings and Salford City Council about owning the stadium outright. For Salford to be self sustainable then this must happen Kouksah has come out and said as much himself.

Yes that would be "buying" the club and playing the running costs, every chairman in the league is doing that and talking a hell of a lot less than he does.
Quote ="Adamjk"No. The players and Brian Noble are all working for free.'"
Noble should be working for free, picking him over Brian Smith is crazy. Are the fans not paying anything either, they pay the same as Leeds, Wigan and Wire fans, when are they going to get the dream the Doc is selling?
When is he actually going to sign some players and flashing the cash that he is talking about. I am not saying it is not going to happen but actions speak louder than words. Salford fans deserve the lift that some new signing would bring. So if he has some tied up he should announce them.

We've been given 9th August as the date when all new signings will be announced. Apparently four are 'done deals' we're in talks with at least a further six. Nothing is being announced for the time being as per (I think) the request of the clubs who we've signed players from.

And yet you're on a Koukash/Salford thread talking about them both.
Keep going, everyone. Whether it lasts or not it's bloody funny seeing everyone get wound up because a rugby league club is daring to be different.

He's certainly polarising opinion , no doubt he is a character.
He mentioned he was continually asked for autographs & to have his picture taken with opposition fans at the Magic Weekend. I'm trying to imagine another SL Boss that would engender the same reaction ?
He Attended the Supporters Club AGM on Monday, and answered questions candidly for over 50 minutes. about the plans he had , and the mistakes he had made in his brief tenure at the club. it wasn't boring ..
He has non of the trappings of the ' Directors Lounge mentality ' in his dress or in his conversation.
Asked if he was contentious in some of his statements? ......." That's what I do" was his answer.
If he has an opinion , he's not going to tipoe round. Like most converts he's evangelical about this sport and ' his club ' and I suspect to those whose backs are already up it's only going to get worse.

| I spoke to someone who knows him, through his racing business, when he took over Salford and he said he wouldn't be afraid of expressing his opinion, regardless of how others took it.
I don't really see the problem some have with him, given he's put money into Salford and has generated multiple newspaper articles (and thus awareness) in 6 months.

| I feel the hatred from some fans is because they fear he will take Salford places. Anyone who thinks he isn't is deluded. He's only been chairman a few months, it's unlikely he would have brought anyone for this season. He's making strong statements, but they are getting media attention. I bet a lot more people have now heard of the Salford City Reds now than before Koukash.
The only statement I found poor was the salary cap statement. The RFL should have issued a strong statement in response to this.

| Maybe the RFL didn't issue a statement in response, Bull Mania, because they know he's right on that one! He is right, isn't he?
Anyhoo, the bile spewing from some members of the 'Rugy league family' is music to any Salford's fans ears as it means maybe, just maybe, we are on the verge of being able to mix it with the big boys. That remains to be seen. But it is barely 5 months since we played a pre-season friendly against Swinton where we gratefully accepted their half of the match proceeds. Since then Dr Koukash (for that is how you spell it) has arranged to clear the club's debt, brought in half a dozen new players, new backroom staff, and a former Great Britain coach. He apparently has 4 more already signed for next season with another 6 or so being pursued. Some opposing fans are stating he should 'shut up and get on with it'. I would suggest he already is.
We may become competitive on a weekly basis. We may win a trophy within 5 years. We may build our attendances to a decent level. We may be able to hold onto our young talented players and not have to watch them move on to other clubs a la Jordan Turner, Richie Myler, Stefan Ratchford, Luke Robinson, Daniel Holdsworth, Joel Moon, Matty Smith. We may not. But we few will enjoy the ride all the same, thanks very much.
