| So anyone born on an aeroplane would only be able to play for Boeing or Airbus?
Brown's wasted in rugby league, with his talent for deciding someone's nationality based on how they look or speak, he could earn a fortune advising the UK Border Agency

| Chase shouldn't be in England squad. No problems with Henderson being in there but over luke Robinson who has been in top form and last time he put on an England shirt was one of the outstand players is a joke. Don't think brown has done him any favours by slating McNamara's choice selection and trying to show him up.

I've not seen much of him myself, but Henderson is supposed to have been in excellent form this season. We all have players we'd rather be in there - many Hull fans would say Houghton - but club fans/coaches are hardly objective in such matters.

| If there was no more switching then any player that had even half a chance of playing for England, Australia or New Zealand would always choose to play for them and turn down call ups for smaller nations unless they were really patriotic.
Until there are enough decent players for nations like Scotland, Ireland and Wales to compete without thee likes of Brough, Bridge and McIllorum switching I don't think there's a problem with them helping out.

For brothers to have different national allegiences? Happens all the time. It's just a fact of life. Along with migration.

| If you use the basis that you can only play for a Country you were born in and discount migration and taking citizenship of an adopted country, what happens in this scenario......
A star player is developed in the NRL or SL that has moved to Australia or England as a toddler from Germany or South Africa, lets say Oz and the NRL he is picked to represent a SOO team.
Is that it? he can not play Test Rugby League for a country where he holds a passport of that country and pays taxes and calls home?

If you were barring people from playing international RL for that, we wouldn't have much of a game.
See also barring players for having Maori tattoos, something which Brown raised. England wouldn't find 13 players.

| Suggestion from left field, Nate: why not all countries stick to the selection rules they have agreed?
What? Oh, yes, we already are.
Brown should campaign to the international authorities to change the rules, if it means so much to him. Not a moment to lose, Nate, or before ya know it, ducks with Aussie accents will even be coaching in England, you mark my words.

When was the last time Australia picked a player from another Nation that was developed overseas and has not spent most of their life in Australia?
England has a history of it.
Heighington
Chase
Maurie Fa'asavalu
Reed
Widdop has emigrated to Australia as a kid, if he feels that "English" maybe he should move back "home" and play for Castleford or Widnes.

So you can't be proud of your heritage unless you live in the country of your birth? Widdop's parents emigrated - he would have had little choice in the matter. He's now (presumably) settled in Australia with most/all of his friends and family around him. That he doesn't fancy moving back to the other side of the world doesn't mean he shouldn't be allowed to play for the country in which he and his parents were born.

He's not saying that though, is he?
He's talking about the like of Heighington, Chase, Fa'asavalu & Co. all who were developed down-under.
The Burgess brothers, Graham, Ellis et al are fair game, it's a shame we can't get about twenty odd of these players in the N.R.L, we may then have a chance.
