| Saints could be a good call actually. Really think it will be a Hull, or a Cas or Widnes etc
And yes MR we were average haha, maybe add Martin Gleeson to that list too? There isn't many. How about Farrell to Saracens............ ................. ...............

| I think the smart money would be Hull FC then either Saints or as people seemed to have neglected to mention Hudds.

| I think he will end up at Rovers.
I have no reason at all for this and it almost definitely will not happen.
Did I say think or blindly hope...

Indeed a very big "if" but Leeds have not looked the same without him. He would add something to every team in the league.

| Fans have become terrified that bringing in players will 'block development' of their youngsters. Wether the fact that the player in question may be twice as good as their youngsters they are brushed away nowadays. Players can play for longer these days, at a higher standard. I doubt there is many young backrowers that are as good as Ellis, bias always comes into it that youngsters are overhyped and rarely live up to potential. Having Ellis around for a couple of seasons wouldn't damage the potential of most players unless they are extremely impatient, you also need to think about improving your team aswell as bleeding through youngsters.

after the reason for choosing to leave the Wests contract was becasue he wanted to return [size=150home[/size to [size=200England[/size i very much doubt it!
i would imagine he will end up at Hull for a 2 years and then finish at Cas.
this we he'd get the big bucks from Pearson, and then finish where he said he always would like to. shame for Cas he might be abit past it then (Menzies proved different though) Ellis is no Menzies im affraid!

What makes you think Hull will have enough money available on the cap? They're tied into multi year deals with Seymour, Heremaia and McKinnon. O'Meley is probably on his way, as is Moa but that leaves holes in the front row and we've got the right side to sort out. I'd love us to sign Ellis but I'm not sure we'll have the money to do it.

Aye, we've won a measly 2 out of 3 super league titles since he left
Seriously though, I'm with you even at 31 he'd improve any side in the league and ought to have 2 to 3 decent years in him.
I'd be sad to see him join another club but on the other hand 2nd row is one of our strongest positions. In any case leeds will only sign him if he fits our rigid pay structure so we won't brake the bank...having said that ellis reportedly accepted a lower salary to join leeds than was on offer else where once so it won't necessarily be a pure bidding war

Wakey offered him more to stay than what Leeds gave him, would love for him to come back to Wakey but can't see it at all. Hull are probably favorites IMO.

I fail to see what's funny. Playing in the NRL doesn't make you superhuman and in the last 2 four nations he's played, Ellis has been ordinary. If Westwood went to the NRL they'd be saying exactly the same about him. It's a debatable one but it's my opinion, there's a lot of bloody ordinary players running round the NRL, hence why when the freaks show up they look so good.
As for cap space J Monaghan did a 'Wigan' last year, just more subtley and takes much of Kings dollar and we've paid some youngsters more and signed Stefan Ratchford so, not really.

Westwood would be banned a lot more if he were in the NRL too - dont think Ellis has copped a ban really has he?

Just because he didn't go to the NRL doesn't mean he's a lesser player, in fact if he was an Oz passport holder he'd be in their team too.

Ellis is a better defender, doesn't give away the stupid penalties Westwood does and offers more in attack.

Westwood wouldn't last 2 minutes in the NRL, he would be a liability with the stupid penalties he gives away and he wouldn't get anywhere near the Aussie national team, don't talk stupid.

No he hasn't, but ok.
When players play for England they are given set instructions, and if you notice the ball tends to only go to one side of the pitch - and that's the side Westwood plays on, not Ellis.
That's the problem with England, everyone has to play a different role to what they do at club level and then people complain when they don't do anything outstanding, what would you expect a player to do when his specific instructions are to be there for his defensive abilities?
The last 4 nations was the perfect time to play open, espansive rugby with the players in the squad like Chase, Roby, Sinfield & Ellis but McNamara played split half back 1 man bump....not rugby you can really stand out playing.
Westwood isn't even the best second rower Warrington have, nevermind what England have.
Remind me how many times has Westwood been voted the best second rower in the world?

Ellis is quite a bit better than Westwood, IMO. And I've no real reason to be biassed. I'm not saying Westwood is poor, but if Ellis came back, even at 32, I think he'd be one of the top ten players in SL.
edit: 'when', not 'if', innit?
