I don't think you understand the way the Salary Cap works , it is 1 st team relevant only , Widnes will have spent up to the max for the last 2/3 years , just as other clubs have , unfortunatley poor recruitment , both in players and coaching staff has resulted in a couple if poor seasons , it happens , because of the licencing system it doesn't matter , you are the best Championship ' Club ' , and are the only club in the Championships that is anywhere near strong enough to move up to SL |

Anyway I am made up Widnes are back in SL,cracking club with good fans,I also shout for them as they have always been my second team due to their excellent team of the 80's.

I will be the first to say performances wise no we dont deserve it but stadium, facilties,finances,acadamy and business plans wise yes we do. Were probably stronger than at least half teams in super league on that case.

Looks to me like just another bitter Leeds fan who doesn't want us back whipping their s like we used to in the 80's............
We were by far the most qualified Club to be promoted. Believe it or not it's 2011, promotion and relegation by the old way has gone, deal with it.

I agree with this.
If it wasn’t for the sensationalist headline of this thread then I’m sure they would have been a more sensible debate. I hope that all this works out and the on field problems are sorted out within the allocated time you have got in super league. |

Any promoted team changes the majority of their 1st 17 in an effort to stay up and still struggle (often because the only free agents they can get have been released by the team they're replacing).
Whilst ability on the ptich in the 2nd tier is a factor to be considered, being realistic, it is not the be all and end all when considering all the factors that determine a clubs ability to contribute to Superleague.
Widnes have a ground that is currently hosting Superleague games. They're also getting a fancy dan iGrass pitch, or something like that.
Don't their youth teams compete favourably with their Superleague equivalents? Its a proven point that the most succesful teams are the ones that can promote from within.
Since their Chairman has taken over, hasn't he given them financial security? Is that through throwing money at them or stabilising them as a business?
I'm looking forward to having them back. Mainly because its an easy away game for me to get to. |
