I was thinking the same thing. How long is the RFL going to put up with Salford and Wakefield with their low crowds and poor junior development. These clubs have been playing Rugby League for well over a 100 years and yet still struggle.

| Quote ="Prince of Denmark"I thought RL (and any other team sport where people pay to watch their local team) was about winning?
Quins haven't wo much in recent years, but we're not the only ones, and we've never finished bottom of the league.
Fortunately we have a wealthy benefactor for the foreseeable future. We haven't been into administration during the period since licencing came about (unlike Widnes, Crusaders, Wakefield etc.) so I don't really see what point you're trying to make. If those clubs (well, some of them) can be trusted to come back stronger why not us? What has the size of the crowd got to do with it if the club remains solvent? (Unlike others with bigger crowds.)'"
How long is that ' foreseeable future ' PoD ?
I truly do hope that a situation like Mebourne happens and either through the governing body or directly a London club can be maintained and grows , partly because if any more clubs are lost from the Championship , it really will become pointless

Obviously your irony meter has been switched off. Huddersfield1895 could probably have included the Giants in his remark, too, especially as they have, eventually, turned the corner and produced a good side followed by good crowds.
It is worrying that the crowds are not showing up at Quins. Yet as long as they have a benefactor willing to sure up their finances out of his own pocket, no-one should be bitching about their continued SL existence - certainly not any club who are in the same boat.

If Wakey has such bad youth development then why is half your side littered with ex Wakey players?
I'd like to add that whilst Wakeys crowds are not quite as good as Hudds, there are a few differences, one being that your season tickets are dirt cheap, two being that you play in a state of the art ground, whereas Wakey play out of a ground with no cover on terraces that are so worn in that the concrete is visibly sloped! Three being that your owner has been able to bankroll your club and its expensive players for many a season.
Some clubs fans have such short memorys, and have been lucky in many respects regarding their ownership and stadium. Having a soccer team has been a blessing for the likes of Wigan, Hull and Huddersfield.
Anyway I digress (It's easy to when people open their mouth without actually thinking much) With the very important public enquiry decision due in a few months time, Wakeys future rests on that decision and it could either turn out to make or break us as a club.

My club is not the Huddersfield Giants. I do however have the upmost respect for Ken Davey and what he has done for the Huddersfield club.
A quick check reveals that Quins have more Acadmey produced players in the first team squad than wakey and Salford, and you know as well as everybody else that your club is drinking at the last chance saloon as regards building a new ground, or a total revamp of Belle Vue.

Wakey is my favourite away game. Easiest to get to (by train), great pubs, great old ground (never rains when we go there fortunately), great friendly locals, great pubs - er, did I mention that - but a couple of years back I got chatting to a local in Harry's Bar who told me there was no place in RL for a London club, but he hadn't watched Wakey for ten years "because they're sh*te". Priceless!

What a total knob you are......look at the facts before spouting rubbish.
Wakefield average so far this season 400 fans less per home game than you do and we are at the bottom and you are at the top.
Wakefield take more away fans than You do thats a fact.....Giants fans dont travel.
Lastly take a look back at academy and you will see that that we finish higher most seasons and have won the academy championship unlike you.......now slither off you misinformed, clueless baboon !

My club is not Huddersfield, so #### in your nest on that one.
Your ground is the worst in Super League by a country mile. thats 2 up to me.
What about the signing of Ryan Tongia, what sort of message does that send to the young British players at Wakey. Tongia has not played a single NRL game, yet is deemed good enough to play for Wakey in Super League.
3 nil to me and i wasn't even trying.

| Not sure where we are at with the whole Harlequins thing, but I was at an event last week and there were some representatives from the RFL there.
I enquired about Harlequins, and one of the guys from the RFL, who seemed to be 'in the know' said that it was very unlikely the club would be playing as Harlequins next season.

| IMO it is vital for RL to have Quins in super league. I understand where people are coming from regarding attendances and on field performances but you have to look at what they do for the game as a whole. There are now 40,000 kids playing RL in the greater london area, a direct result of the community work the quins club are doing. This can only be good for our game.
That kind of community work has only been happening in the recent past, as those kids grow up hopefully they will provide the London cluns next generation of fans and introduce their children to our sport. This is a 20 year + project.
It's the same reason i'm dissapointed Crusaders pulled out.

Juniors have been playing RL for a long time now it does not appear to have had much of an impact on attendances. Claiming 40k kids play RL as a direct result of Quins is being extremely economical with the truth, the majority would have not come about as a direct result of Quins community work. Bear in mind children play sport at school not out of choice, hence the extremely large drop-off rate once they leave school, most children . In addition to this the 16-19 age group accounts for about 60% of the players actively playing rugby league, those 40k school children (if it is an accurate figure) would be twice the amount of players in GL in all age groups above 19 years.
