One was I think against Australia, he was in the clear strolled over the tryline and then dropped the ball without an opposition player in sight.

Another while playing for London (may have been Wembley against Leeds) they had been under a lot of pressure, he caught the ball over his own try line, thinking it was a drop out he threw it forward to a teammate only to be pulled up for a forward pass, it was actually play on and he should have run it out.

Ah well I suppose he had better moments to look back on

Remember there been a debate in Hull in '97 about whether a goal by Bob Everitt for Rovers against Hull was successful (it kinda went over the top of the left-post). It was given by the in-goal judges and we ended up winning 24-22, so that may have been a cock-up depending which side you support.

I saw a game last year at schoolboy level where this kid dropped the ball in the in-goal from a kick-off and in frustration flung the ball wildly away, back into the field of play where an opposition player picked it up and ran in for the try. Of course it should have been called up for a line drop because he regathered after the knock on but the ref gave the try. The look on his teammates faces said it all.

A couple of those are players just making handling errors at the worst possible time – which you have to feel for – but the first is unforgiveable where the guy is arsing around celebrating before he gets the ball down... he should never live that down

Regarding Offiah for London in the Cc final, he did throw the ball forward, thinking it was a tap 20 but the end result was a penalty against London for offside against the player catching the ball...

Who were Leeds United playing in a televised (possibly cup) match a few years ago when the opposition put the ball in the back of the United net ? The net was so close to the hoardings that the ball hit them and bounced out . Goal was not awarded .

There is a clip out there of a football match, the forward shoots wide but a ball boy stood at the side of the net pops up and casually throws a ball round the post into the net and the ref gives a goal

Saw an email video the other week of (I think) a play off game in an Italial football lower league. It was a penalty shoot out and the goalie needed to save the last penalty to win and his side get promoted or whatever, the guy shoots the ball and hits the bar - the goalie runs off chearing to his teammates.

The ball went right up in the air back towards the penalty spot and had backspin as if it had been hit by a sand wedge, running back to the open goal as the goalie looked on too far away to get back from his mates! They went on to loose the shootout!
