Nope...but I'll tell now...if the 9 current Sydney clubs, + the three nearest were to form 1 'division" then the other 12 would get nearly twice the money from TV.
Auckland to Perth 5,500+ Km's......and about NZ$1,000 for a return flight....7hrs in the air each way?
Roosters v Central Coast 52kms and 45 mins in the car.
If that were to happen the AFL would pi55 themselves......NSW need to realise they are not the NRL.....they are an over populated part of the NRL. If the game is to grow then teams like WA or the 2nd NZ team need to be playing The Rabbits and The eels......not just amongst themselves and Brisabane

You have taken it completely the wrong way. That was just a simple way of illustrating the split of a division.
Just for the record though, you don't want NSW being the NRL on it's own. Surely a league structure like that would completely move away from NWS dominating.
I am not saying for one second it should or will happen but with the amount of clubs who might be prepared for the NRL in 25 years time... what else could you do other than split the league?

| Rationalise. Reality is some of the Sydney clubs are not going to keep pace with one team cities in years to come. either the league will be held back to keep them viable or they will relocate or drop down to NSW cup. It is inevitable.
I can see a 20 team comp in 30 years time with two conferences.

sarcasm aside SL did rationalize the number of sydney teams and it didnt help the game
i can understand someone whose not from australia saying sydney has too many teams
its really not true
i could easily make an argument that there are too few teams in sydney, let alone nsw
only the sharks are weak and lets be honest they average 10,000 - 13,000
this is fine when compared to SL clubs or RU crowds in england
the game is growing in sydney

I didn't say ALL Sydney clubs, I said some. There's probably 3 or 4 that need to seriously lift their game off the field if they are going to get their incomes up to $18mill+ that the big clubs in and out of Sydney are going to be at within a short space of time.

They will have the chance to 'lift their game' with a bigger stronger competition hopefully getting twice as much in TV deals.
Why is it such a big problem that some clubs are bigger than others anyway? The English Premier League has Manchester United getting 75k every home game and then Wigan Athletic who only get 13k for some games and thats with 4-5k away fans.
There is definantly potential for a 20-24 team comp in the future. I just don't know how you would split them up without peeing people off.

just be happy perth are getting a team soon and leave it alone
yes cronulla are poor
penrith have 8000 juniors you numpty ...growing at 10% each year, you want them kicked out when AFL are trying to expand in the west?
lol thats the kind of thinking i expect from guttertroll
the NRL is a sydney centric competition, it cant survive without sydney
if you dont like that go back to england cause its never changing

20 - 22 teams ...play other other once
or 2 divisions - NSW competition and the rest playing each other home and away
each division having their own semi final series (top 5 format) with the 2 division winners going into a Super Bowl game

| Strong will survive, weak will be gone. Law of the jungle. Sydney is overcrowded and as the NRL continues to grow and clubs require greater incomes to be competitive it is inevitable. I'm not saying it should be forced, it will happen anyway as the comp gets bigger and bigger and big city teams dominate the comp. The days of the NRL being a glorified NSW cup are coming to an end, I think the decision to include a Brisbane2 and Perth over another NSW team will signify the NRL's intent.
In regards to the extra grant from a much improved TV deal, reality is it will be going in players pockets. Clubs will be about $1/2mill better off a season (current gap between grant and salary cap) but I can see the NRL grant going up to say $5-6mill and the salary cap going up to match it.
back on topic, the Dogs v Souths game next week should get another 30k+ crowd hopefully.

lol so no melbourne storm then eh ?

It's important for RL not to move out of core areas and let other sports in, to lose Penrith or Parramatta now, just when a afl side has started would be a disaster, as would leaving Manly.
I don't know how Penrith can I
improve attendences and their finiancial loss, but surely Manly could improve attendences with a improved stadium?

| In another reflection of how fast RL is developing in WA the WA Reds SG Ball side today picked up their first ever away win in the last game of the season. Downing the worlds biggest Jnr RL nursery, the Reds beat Penrith 28-22. What we lack in numbers we make up for in quality!

| If Reds get in who do you think would make a good coach? Someone who is good with growing home grown talent, having patience to ride the initial losses and provide his club for the future. Bennet obviously but he has no intereest in starting another club.
Tim Sheens has an eye for local talent, but has Australia duties. Realistically, who do you think would be good?
Brown? Potter? Chris Anderson? Michael Hagan?
Graham Murray would be my pick if he wants/is free. Ex QLD, NQ and I think roosters boss would be ok.

Gus Goulds contract with channel 9 is up the end of 2012, maybe a challenge for him.

Like the massive Sydney derbies
Expansion, be definition is to take the game to NEW areas. The reason AFL gets a TV deal that's the same or better than NRL is because of the country wide reach...AFL is a national game, NRL is not (yet)
