I like the Kooga sportswear, they were the best quality shirts that Wakefield used and all logos were embroidered rather than printed. the older ISC kits were mainly printed and they used to click, however they do seem much improved. As for the National team they really should be wearing British made gear. I live near stag sports and they make a lot of amateur kits but I am not sure what the quality is like these days. At the end of the day when you are shelling out 45 quid for a replica shirt you want it to last.

The name Patrick was bought by JJb some time ago.

Raven Sport are over in Batley. They make loads of amateur kits and they also make some of the lower league ones.

Isn't KooGa's UK operation run by who used to be Ellgren in Wigan as well as Optimum?

A lot of the Puma stuff etc will be made 'under licence' so not completely as clear-cut as people first assume.

Optimum have their gear made in China.

Optimum are totally separate to Ellgren. They had the same unit for a few years but they've since moved to a larger one in Ince.

Puma rugby gear is made by a company called Genesis Sports in Manchester.

Not entirely correct....genesis are able to supply Puma branded product under license.
They have to have Puma branded products firstly approved by Puma and then have to
have it made in Puma accredited factories, some of which are in Turkey and far east.

X-Blades UK is a far cry from X-Blades Australia, the quality is poor, made in a little sweatshop not by X-Blades Australia. It will be gone soon if what I hear is correct.


Kooga, O'Neills, Samurai, Gilbert/Steeden and Genesis (Puma) all make very good kits and are UK based.

Kooga make replicas overseas and Gilbert/Steeden use China but the others make in the UK/Ireland too.

Ravensport are in Dewsbury. They make the Swinton and Hunslet kits aswel as bags of amateur kits.

They run a twitter account that's quite interesting and shows what they do from designing to sewing the kit, all in-house. Have a look at @RavensportUK

The current Puma replicas for Quins are very good. Well made and fully sublimated. A very comfortable set of jerseys.
