| Right it's clearly confusing people here:
2011 OVERSEAS PLAYERS
MAXIMUM 5 PLAYERS OF EITHER QUOTA/NON FEDERATION
The rest Federation trained or Quota/Non Fed with exemptions that don't count towards the overseas quota at all.
As I clearly explained above, people like Lovegrove have exemptions so are classified as FED TRAINED.
Mason has a passport that makes him NON FED TRAINED and not just a quota player.

Your allowed 5 quota players, and your allowed 5 non-fed trained players.
When all of the exemptions are out of the way, it will go down to just 5 non-fed trained players, that's the aim.

Ever so sorry I don't cream over England/ GB or whatever the powers that be put together. If you think all paying fans who do not have a passion for the international game should stop supporting their clubs, you will then see what state the game would be in

actually comparing the Int RL attendances compared to what the overall club attendances are every week I would suggest that there are far far more fans who care more about their team than the Int game.

There's a difference between caring more about your team and 'not giving a fig about the national team'. ATEOTD for our sport to grow we need a strong England RL team.

exactly. if they were using this method to bring over an average journeyman to take the place of a young british player then i would have a problem, but this is mason, he will be box office for our game. besides it will be nice to see him add some spice to the derby match when radford goes after him.
the danger is this might open the floodgates for teams to bring over lesser players

They are using it to bring over journey men. It should be Mason or Galea, Lovegrove, Vella, Newton, Clinton. Not Mason and Galea, Lovegrove, Vella Newton and Clinton. By allowing Mason off the quota, it allows them to keep the ones who are on quota.

So does Mason getting a different passport get him dispensation? And if not then what was the advantage of him getting one?

No, please grasp this quickly to save me having to write it again. You're allowed a total of 5 overseas players consisting of quota players/non-fed players. No more. That is the limit. Otherwise, why do you think people are doing so much whinging over Hull KR's amount of overseas players?

| While I am pleased that my club has signed such a high profile marque signing its also tinged with a bit of disappointment with us going down an exemption route. I have always believed that your status should be linked to WHERE you played your first professional game.

But that doesn't necessarily always work. Look at Andy Henderson - born in Torquay, Scottish heritage but started his career in Australia so counts as non-federation or what have you.

I think Gareth Widdop would also count on the quota under those rules, if he ever decides to come back over to the UK.

Not sure considering he started his career at Halifax. Might be able to get an exemption through having a British passport - I presume he still has one?

Are you suggesting that the Premier League and Super League are in similar states? One is massively popular across the entire country with several teams who regularly get over 40,000 crowds and massive TV deals.
One is popular across the M62 with only 4 teams who can average over 10,000, several teams in financial disarray with little hope for improvement and an average TV deal.
The Premier League can quite easily sustain itself with a poor national side. Super League needs a national side to spread exposure of the sport across the country and increase both crowds and TV deals.

Sorry I do not share your enthusiasm over the international game,I am not in the least bit patriotic( political reasons but do not wish to discuss on this forum )
