| A further prime example of said misinformation in action is the complete absence of discussion of the fact rugby league has had 8 nations playing internationals this month...
Apparently rugby league has no international presence according to the "informed".

| another question that needs to be addressed...why will 80,000 englismen turn up to watch their team get mullered by the AB's this weekend, when less than 10,000 englishmen can be bothered to turn up to watch their team muller France in RL?
League kicks unions ass on TV in the UK......League averages more fans at games in the UK.......why will Twickenham be full on Saturday yet Leigh was less than 2/3rds full last summer?
Find out the answer to this question and we can start to find a solution.......just a thought
As for "Historical" crowd records....keep typing them....they are correct but of no relevance if you want the game you love to progress.......other codes have taken ideas from RL and made them work......video refs etc.......but RL still seems too scared to blow its own trumpet......that's where the problem lies to some extent

| The answer to illustrate the misinformation point:-
1. Apparently rugby league has no presence in NZ.
2. Apparently rugby union is the only game in NZ.
3. Unfortunately for that misinformed view, rugby league actually holds the record for the highest WC crowd in either rugby code in NZ.
Now you may understand the discussion and the original point.

are you on the grog early?
I have no idea what I am supposed to have typed in this thread that would have required me to google for an answer.....nor get the response above. If you are fishing, or looking for a board spat...then jog on.
Misinformation is not the lack of coverage of the 8 teams playing RL over the last few weeks.....that's exposure. Misinformation would be if someone said that only 4 teams were playing.....but nobody on here has
As I say, 80,000 brits will turn up, after paying nearly 100 notes eachon average to watch their team get hammered.....yet 9,000 or so turned up to watch England RL hammer France in the summer......why is a big question, but it is again, not misinformation.......
Seriously...more water, less grog Old Dear......

Misinformation is the suggestion there is no international rugby league; when in fact eight teams have been playing it in the last month. Keep trying.

I did say that the press didn't cover it.....but that is lack of exposure....not misinformation.

Why do I "need more facts"?
The European Nations played.....Wales won...nothing in the way of on-line coverage on UK press websites.....no coverage...not misinformation.
Are you saying that there was coverage and I missed it? Are you saying the IRB supressed any reporting? ( ) are you saying that there SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERAGE?....what are you trying to say?
Please...I'm irish....make it as simple as you can....I can do the Daily Telegraph crossword in 10 minutes, but some of your posts make the enigma machine look like an etcha-sketcha

I am not...never said there was...never said there would be? Your point is......what?
I will not be dragged into a "code' war....there's no point and all the stats in teh world will prove nothing.......Union is a global sport....league is a local one....the real question is how do we change this?
Hint: Reading history books isn't the answer.......in any walk of life. Look at all the Great Generals in war...Ghengis Khan, Alexander, Rommell.....brilliant men, but they all have one thing in common.......they lost.
Look to the future.......embrace change and let your opponents worry about you.....not the other way around!

| I think we need to worry about people in Australia, England etc actually giving a hoot about rugby league and coming to internationals. I doubt the average - poor crowds in the 4N so far have anything to do with union and that's in the here and now.
As for why 80,000 will turn up for the All Blacks it's probably because of the All Blacks huge brand. The fact that France haven't troubled England and of course the test isn't even given a stand alone weekend. It's given little chance to fill Leigh sports ground. Never mind anywhere else.

| Games between Australia v New Zealand in rugby league are close to the best international sport in the world at the moment, especially given they have less than half a point between them in the last 9 tournament Tests.
We have had poor weather for the 4N internationals in some cases...
The Wellington crowd was excellent against an English side which looked vulnerable pre-tournament in the backs.
We will have a magnificent crowd in Auckland this weekend.
England is a separate issue but you have gone backwards in nearly every on-field playing respect since the SLW...start staging the games as events rather than trying to hide them away would be a start.

Yeah, and most of them are inbred hooray henrys who couldn't give a fudge about Union's domestic leagues unless it involves Leicester or Barf, not to mention giving the code a bad name in other sporting circles (*Cough*RL*Cough*). The RFU are like the illuminati of rugby, they only do what profits them rather than the good of the game. Hell, they can't even get a proper manager nor pick the correct players hence international England RU going to hell... does anyone know what Rob face Andrew actually does?

Aus v NZ is a great rivalry in lots of sports - I tend to support the underdog so I favour the Wallabies in rugby union, black caps in cricket, and Kiwis in rugby league.
And I agree that some of the recent rugby league games between the two have been incredible. The 2008 world cup final was one of the best games I've ever seen in any sport - it was absolutely ferocious. The fitness levels and skill on show that day was as good as anything you'll find in world sport.
I'm ashamed to admit that I couldn't be bothered to get up to watch England play recently - I stayed in bed and listened to the Aus game on the radio but fell back to sleep early in the 2nd half when it was fairly clear that we were heading for another defeat.
I will definitely make sure I'm up and ready for the final on Saturday though. I hope the Kiwis can get it right up them again.

the best part of this tourney has been the crowds in nz.
somehow weve got to have an annual 3 match series between the kiwis and roos, like origin, with each nation getting 2 home games, then swapping over.

| Cities should be rewarded and punished for their crowds. A city which puts the effort in, promotes the game and gets a good crowd should be rewarded with more games in the future while somewhere that draws a modest or frankly embarrassing attendance should be put to the back of the queue until they show they are capable of doing an international rugby league game justice.
