so who would you kick out of SL at the moment and who would they be replaced by ? wherever you look to it would be tricky to find six other clubs who could take their places imo - you would always be left with the few 'elite' clubs at the top with the also-rans struggling behind

| One thing it was meant to improve was the about of Quota players, this hasn't happened yet because of the legal loopholes that players and clubs are exploiting.
As these players retire or are releasd then we will see clubs having to only have 5 quota players, this should hopfully improve the ammount of young players coming through.
Yesterday saw easily the worst backline for England/GB that I have ever seen, a few years ago the likes of Robinson and Goulding wouldn't have got into the international 40 man sqaud never mind the first 17.

Nope. It's objective, judged against more criteria than simply whether your first team won a single game of semi-professional rugby the previous October

Unfortunately there aren't six clubs who could replace the "usual suspects". What I'm saying is that Super League is anything but "Super". What lies beneath isn't even worth a mention.
Sorry to be so depressing.

Still waiting for the 6 clubs you think bring nothing to Superleague......if I had to guess they would be
Quins RL
Salford
Crusaders
Wakefield
Castleford
Catalans or one of the Hulls.........
That would leave the top 6 from last year, Bradford and either a hull or catalans to play........
Widnes
Halifax
Barrow
Featherstone
Leigh
a another.(sheffield bately or tolouse realistically)
I can't wait to hear what the 6 championship clubs above would bring to the table that the 6 "usual suspects" don't already?

Outstanding idea...in fact, if the last 4 years are anything to go by...get it down to 6 A.S.A.P. ...the aussies will be bricking themselves and the sport will become a real national sport
For some people change is good...for others it isn't, but for most on these boards it's OK but it doesn't produce results overnight...so it needs more change.
When London were fielding an entire team of aussies there were cries of "foul" and unfair....backed up with it'll never work. 15 years later the kids that were 9 and 10 are starting to get rep honours or being picked up by one of the big 4 and the under age teams and reserves are full of cockneys....the first team ran out with 9 local lads in the side last season......but now those who said it would never work point to how badly the team has performed and our non-existant crowds.......I suspect that when the RFL sort out the marketing at the club and we get a coach who can...er...well...coach, these naysayers will blame global warming on Quins RL and demand they be removed from SL.
Rome wasn't built in a day......but it did burn down pretty quickly and some on here shouldn't be allowed to play with matches....they won't be happy until RL reverts back to being a local pastime instead of a national sport

I'm just saying from skimming the thread he clearly doesn't suggest that the Championship clubs are better.

Maybe, maybe not, but there is not a chance in hell of Rupert Murdoch paying a brass farthing for the same 8 teams playing each other 3 times a season and then an 8 team play-off series.....Murdoch wants national and then international reach.......if he doesn't get it, then I suspect all but about 3 clubs will immediately go part time and the game will die as a professional sport.....
Like it or not, 1.2mil a season is what is keeping 90%+ of clubs afloat.......take the money away and see how keen the backers of clubs like mine are to throw more money into the pot.
SL is fine as it is....a work in progress. Licencing is 2 years old......and the tree will get a shake next year.....once a team has been ejected, the remaining 13 and Widnes will know exactly what is expected of them.....
BTW.....attendances at SL games are up 13% since the start of the first licenced season.......not bad considering the number of posters on here who'd "had enough" and said the "game will die as a sport" when the first 14 were announced.....so the OP needs to look at the title thread.....in the 8 years to 2008 the average crowds grw 28%...in 2 years nearly half that growth has been achieved.......or maybe that's not enough for some...or enough, but not fast enough

| I think the title of this thread should be
"My team aint going to get a licence so I am going to bag the system any time I get a chance"
It is a little sad really because Halifax are probably going to get a licence at some point and they will be better prepared and more protected once they do get into Superleague thanks to the licence system. You just need to keep the faith my friend.
As for littlerichs 6 clubs, I would say in terms of being at a high enough level to provide us with a good enough competition on the field anyone outside of the top 7 last year need to get better or consider life as a part time team in the championship.
Seriously if your team cannot finish higher than a bunch of NRL fringe players put together a week before the season you need to consider what you (as a club) are doing wrong. Don't get me wrong seven good teams is better than the 4 good teams we had a few years back but we need to have 14 strong teams to give our competition the intensity it needs. If that cannot be delivered then licencing will have then failed.

But thats good enough for SL and the NRL , thing is though it isn't about one game is it , or if thats the case then you are right , we play 20 odd pre season games before the ' real ' competition starts , might as well just draw lots or have the RFL dish out starting positions dependant on stadium , finance and how well your juniors did the previous season , then have a 14 team ' play off '

I can't legislate for stupid people who can't read my post properly. As for the six clubs in SL who aren't exactly "super" your list is pretty accurate. Either you're not so stupid after all or it's so obvious who the six are it doesn't need me telling you.
=#FF0000Edit:
Apologies Gutterfax - no need for this from me. I withdraw my unhelpful tone.

with respect, you don't need to be a brain surgeon to work out the six 'crap' clubs you are thinking of but I don't find it depressing in the least that the six possible clubs who would replace them would be any worse - I've seen all the Championship teams at To13 last season and ,given their budget/personal financial restrictions I feel the general level in the Championship is of a high standard, certainly more professional than say,of twenty years ago - things have progressed, coaching standards and fitness levels appear to be way higher than even ten years ago imo
I'm struggling to find a 'crap' Championship team to visit Toulouse last season (the previous season Donny & Thunder were the worst) and it would be difficult for me to give a top-six from that division.Toulouse and especially Perpignan are intimidating places to come to .
Don't be so negative littlerich - given the resources in the lower division(s),the future looks very bright.
The dual registration system for me was a great idea and long may it last.

yes,it's THAT bad ! never mind,SKY will soon be showing the Netball Superleague series which may be of some consolation...it's the old thing about schoolgirls in gymslips etc etc - even at my age it's a bit special...
btw - since my last tome,i've been trying to list the Championship teams in order of performance at TO13 during the past season - sorry to repeat myself but the standard WAS very high - the difference in quality of play between the top and the bottom was very small imo
performance wise I would say
1 - Eagles
2 - Fev
3 - Barrow (second-half they could have beaten The Broncos !)
4 - Fax
5 - Rams
6 - Leigh
7 - Whitehaven
8 - Cougars
9 - Vikings
10- Batley
best player performance Rooney
most professional team had to be Leigh regarding match preparation etc - thanks to Basil
most skillful side Fev
most dissapointing side Vikings
most visiting fans Fax
least visiting fans Whitehaven
least friendly fans Batley
best singing fans Eagles
dirtiest team Cougars
friendliest fans Leigh & Fax
happiest chairman big Des at Barrow
most dissapointed chairman Fax cos' he admitted they had no chance of SL in the near future
all the players/officials at the traditional post-match get together were fantastic and took the trouble to mix as usual etc except one player who was not exactly polite, namely Andy Shickell - he was nasty on the field & impolite off it - please don't come back to Toulouse.
