If a team who finishes 5th-8th makes it this far then they will be the team that will be always be chosen, so the team with the club call will just be picking who they would be naturally playing anyway. If Warrington had won tonight then Saints would have had to choose between 1st and 3rd, which is not exactly a benefit.

Saints will be praying that Wigan knock Leeds out.

I reckon Saints will win it this year, but it will be alot harder if it's vs Leeds. The doubt will already be there, but they might overcome it for Keiron Cunningham.

If they do it without Pryce & Eastmond it will be an exceptional achievement.

i think its a good idea the club call as it rewards the stronger teams during the season with more advantage in the semis

the only disadvantage is you might see the same semis played again but its a small price to pay
