| please.
those AFL ratings are terrible
they are losing the battle on FTA excluding our regional viewers
they are getting killed on Foxtel as well.
and it was funny seeing the union ratings fall 30% once the nrl started
they only get 15,000 more viewers than the toyota cup

| yeh we get the message. Geez any English fan looking at this forum must think all of Australia is obsessed with a d1ck measuring contest!
RL is walking over the corpse of RU, we all agree. Let it be! RU has not been our main competitior for decades anyway, AFL is who we are trying to get ahead of.

| Bugger that, nothing wrong with posting the crowds and TV ratings plus the way the trolls have bombarded this forum lately suggests they need to see the proof each and every week.
Plus I like stiring them up
Smokedcod will love this thread.

at least they got to watch it. Frustrating when you see the NRL live FTA figures and they have two city ratings as that's all its shown in. How much bigger could they be if the other 48% of the country got to watch the game?

I thought you said two weeks ago you were going to stop bitching about this seeing as we can't do a damn thing until 2013 when hopefully your team comes back?
FFS, I hope they do just to shut your whinging and whining up, I couldn't care less after 2013 how much you talk them up, but for the love of god, stop complaining about something none of us can do anything about.
Change the record, or kick the farking player so it gets past the massive scratch.

fans of other sports who post on here as pretend RL fans get insecure and start talking RL down
the easy solution is just to ban all the people who arent real RL fans
they are so easy to spot out

Did anyone else notice the Iron Chef outrated the swans again last week?
www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/i ... -shkr.html
Quote Iron Chef takes a slice out of the Swans again
RICHARD HINDS
April 16, 2010
THE total Sydney metropolitan audience for the Swans match against Richmond on Saturday night was about 79,000. This not only left Ten eating the dust of its commercial and taxpayer-funded rivals, the total free-to-air and pay-TV audience was just 4000 more than enjoyed the Anglophile pleasures of A Touch of Frost and Heartbeat on Seven's digital affiliate.
Of those who did cheer the red and the white, an alarming - for AFL pioneers and Ten advertisers - 52,000 watched the match on half-hour delay on Ten. To that paltry figure you can add the 14,000 tuned into Ten's digital stablemate, One.
Because the SCG game had been rescheduled from Saturday afternoon to avoid a traffic clash with the AJC Derby at Randwick, the original rights-holder Foxtel was also permitted to show the game live. While Foxtel is reluctant to release figures, it is unlikely more than 13,000 viewers took that option.
Which brings the total audience to 79,000, and raises the question often mischievously posed by the NRL as it positions itself to gain a bigger slice of the television rights pie: did the Swans beat their Saturday night nemesis, the Iron Chef?
Not last Saturday when an average 112,000 viewers preferred to watch vegetables sliced and diced on SBS than Richmond sliced and diced by Sydney.
Even using the combined Ten-One-Foxtel figure, the Swans were last in their 7.30pm-10.30pm timeslot, overshadowed by the ABC's blue-rinse specials The Bill/Blue Murder/Midsomer Murders (combined average 212,000) and the movies Underdog and Four Weddings and a Funeral on Seven (163,000) and Win A Date With Tad Hamilton and Life Or Something Like It on Nine (144,000).
That made it Iron Chef 2, Swans 0 this season. The aproned oriental also outrated the well-publicised season-opener against St Kilda which drew an average of 100,000 viewers (84,000 on Ten, 16,000 on One). Again, the Swans were last in their timeslot.
None of which will surprise AFL executives who, despite their expansionist rhetoric, are acutely aware of the difficulties of penetrating Sydney's prime-time market. Undaunted, they have adopted the counter-intuitive position that poor viewing figures provide an even greater incentive to promote the game in the western suburbs.
However, as the NRL begins its own TV rights negotiations, the AFL's inability to improve ratings that have flat-lined in the 14 years post-1996 grand final must be a concern. AFL officials will be well aware Ten executives were recently seen flirting with NRL chief David Gallop.
Ten's commitment to showing the Swans in Saturday prime-time has been laudable. However, to Seven and Nine executives who tried and quickly discarded prime-time AFL, it provides an example of the popular definition of lunacy - doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
The challenge for the AFL in its next rights negotiation (from 2012 onward) is that, with the NRL finally flexing some muscle, it could face a tougher battle to extract the $1 billion for five years that will fund northern expansion.
Given a large baked-on audience in its heartland and the capacity to sell an extra game with an expanded 18-team competition, the Sydney ratings are not make or break. But they compromise the self-portrait the AFL paints of a thriving, fully national competition.
The AFL's propagandists already have Karmichael Hunt on the Gold Coast. Perhaps the GWS franchise should start talks with the Iron Chef.'"
love the iron chef.

even the journos now are using the kind of lines us league fans have been using for ages.
theres a good chance AFL will get less money than it expects as other networks chase the nrl
fox cant afford to lose league, nor can 9. but without the large fox money 7 and 10 cant afford their current AFL bids
