Billy Slater is up they with all the overrated Australians that have come through the last five years. He even struggled against Halifax

Leaving aside all the taking, Slater is a wonderful player and McClennan is an excellent coach.

Maybe he would, maybe he wouldn't. To try and state either possibility as a fact is ridiculous. Nathan Brown has had one decent season in SL and is already supposedly heading back to an an NRL job after he's done at Hudds. McClennan has done more than Brown so far ( with greater resources though obviously) so why wouldn't he have a shot in the NRL?

remind me again where did Murray, McRae, Elliot and Millward end up after SL?

Mate you don't break Australia's stranglehold on the game at international level like the Kiwis did under McClennan in 2005 without a good coach.

The insularity of the Australian game is the only reason he wouldn't get a go in the NRL.

and then went to SL and is the coach of the year.

ian millward won everything as a coach in SL, and only managed to get an assistant coaching job here.

shaun mcrae also won titles and managed to only win a single NRL game as coach

mclennan would probably get an assistant coaching job here if he applied given his SL titles

justin morgan did nothing as an NRL coach and is apparently one of the top coaches in SL.

mick potter was an assistant NRL coach and also is one of the top coaches in SL.

now mark mcuire has been headhunted from assistant coaching at melbourne storm (one of several assistant coaches) for the head coaching job at wigan.

Assistant NRL coach = SL coach

SL coach doesnt necessarily mean you can get a job as an assistant NRL coach
