and only 1 junction off the motorway. For the Tri-Nations final in 2004 it took about 90minutes to get off the motorway onto the (only) carpark.

8/9 November:

I'm a little confused by the dates for week 2 and 3.
Week 1: 24/25 Oct - Sat/Sun
Week 2: 1/2 Nov - Sun/Mon?
Week 3: 8/9 Nov - Sun/Mon?
Surely they mean 31 Oct/1 Nov and 7/8 Nov (Sat/Sun) instead?
That said, the actual dates for week 2 and 3 aren't on the [url=http://www.therfl.co.uk/superleague/news_item.php?id=13143RFL announcement[/url, but surely we can safely assume it will be Sat/Sun.

| I take it there will be a France v England game played mid season.
Why have they not announced the date or venue??
Rumours are that it will be played in Paris in June.

2 junctions, 3 if you come down the A62 (Gelderd Road). I'd recommend the latter, park and eat at the Pack Horse then walk from there.

| I'll go to Donny and Elland Road. I might consider Huddersfield given the historical failure to attract crowds to NZ games in this country. The RFL can stick Wigan up its a[ir[/ise.
It's about a half hour walk from Leeds city station to Elland Road. The route can't be described as picturesuque, but I am willing to show people the way if they will buy me a pint in the Grove or the Adelphi before the game.
Disappointed by the TBCs on the France home games.

| I'm not sure that Cottingley's that much closer than the main train station. Plus the Drysalters isn't as good as the Grove.

| Ohhhh, I've just twigged I'll be living in Leeds at the time of the tournament.
'Appen I'll pop into Huddersfield (though I'm unsure why we insist on constantly playing NZ matches there? perhaps a safe option, rather than facing the possibility of not selling a stadium out against the ockers) and Elland Road. Might also venture into the fair city of Doncaster, too.

| think its a decent enough list, would have preferred the England-Australia clash to be somewhere more ambitious like the COM, the Reebok though or even Anfield though.
surely with the 2 french games they will go for one game in Paris and one at Catalan.

Which major football ground? what premiership soccer club in their right mind are going to allow their £M pitch to be used by RL?
If you are going to use places like Loftus Road (a dump with poor facilities) Brentford (poor transport) Charlton (again poor transport) they don't offer a great deal more that The Stoop either capacity wise, facilities wise or in terms of RL connections.

The Valley is 27,100 capacity which would have been a realistic target for an England -v- Aus game (more than it will get in Wigan), and is a perfectly suitable stadium for such a game.
Also Craven Cottage is a 22,200 capacity which would have been ok too.
Loftus Road and Griffin Park wouldnt be big enough, and as you say are complete dumps.
For the Aus v NZ game they could go all radical and have a double header at Eastlands along with England v France (the 2 games which are likely to get the lowest crowds).

I thought the discussion concerned Australia vs. New Zealand? If so, I think the Stoop is a very good choice, albeit a drop in capacity after they filled Loftus Road a few years back.

I think the idea is to capitilise on London's Antiopdean population, although I do agree they could have been a little more ambitious in their choice of venues and maybe tried Eastlands or even Blackburn for one of the games.

err...yes. They play it at Twickenham all the time, getting their biggest crowds there.
Put it this way, it's like Rugby League holding a game at Old Trafford. There are tonnes of teams close by enough to travel without making a whole day of it, but none in the exact postcode.
