| Quote ="AlfieMoon"Having read your posts, it would seem that you think the try was flukey purely because it was in the 79th minute. Surely you're not basing your entire argument on this

And because a defence that held up solid all game happened to miss one of its few missed tackles right next to the line.
If Lee Smith had have stepped the first man - no fluke. The man slipped off him, that was lucky for leeds / unlucky for wigan (whichever) but it made the try flukey.

Last week Saints scored 14 tries on the back of 33 missed tackles by HKR. Were Saints lucky?

That was my initial thought.
But, thinking about it, clamping down on kickers being taken out late means that players aren't allowed to jump in at kickers and claim they were committed. The whole point of the rule is to protect kickers being hit without the ball.

No because they happened consistently throughout the game.
There's a big difference between missing shedloads of tackles throughout the game and standing solid for most of it then missing a vital tackle in the last minute.

| So basically the main message is that missed tackles are flukey and absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with a lack of tackling skill or tiredness. Because they are, of course, purely dependent on the fluke factor

By Damo.
If he was knackered then Smith didn't make him miss, fatigue did.

Your at it again belittling the significance that Lee Smith did in the very last minute. The Wigan defence was on top all game and it took Leeds 80 minutes to break it.
How deluded can you get?

How deluded can you get?
Do you think Lee Smith planned to win it in the last minute? You'd be an idiot to think they wouldn't have loved to have it wrapped up at half time.

No, when he ran onto the ball and stepped Gleeson, his main aim was to get under the posts so Sinfield could drop a goal and we would lose by 1 point.

Wow. Just when I think your argument can't get any dafter you deliver. No team will plan to win a game in the last minute. Does this mean any game that is won where the game hasn't gone exactly to plan is a fluke? I think lining up for that scrum Lee Smith would of been planning to win it in the last minute

| I was stood right infront of the last try, it was JJB who was inciting the Wigan fans. Stood screaming in the faces of the young uns at the front with his arms out in a 'come on then' motion. Horrible house, shame nothing hit him.
Linesman got hit with what looked like a lunchbox, but when you incite fans in that manner...

Leeds never planned that piece of play full stop. It came about from a missed tackle which luckily gave Leeds the win.

You’ll be surprised to know that I was in company of Lee Smith Thursday Night and he told me whilst having a pint in his hand that he plans to score a try in the last minute. Looked like he had it all worked out because he was demonstrating to me how he’d do it on the dance floor.
They wasn’t prepared to tackle him either. Everyone was wondering what the hell he was doing though when he dived on the floor. But me and my mates just piled on him like the Leeds players did in today’s game. Then we got up and celebrated like lads do.
Some lads started throwing bottles at us. Bouncers got rid of them because you don’t kick Leeds Rhinos players out of a night club in their own city do you?
So yes your right Lee Smith planned it all!
Yes Thursday night was pretty much like today!

Hey, I know Lee Smith is no genius.
The manner of how Leeds got into the position may have had some luck involved, but the try wasn’t a fluke, an English International centre missed a crucial tackle.
