Nah, over seven minutes to set and reset and reset a scrum would be laughable and no serious sport would allow such a time wasting exercise...

The RL scrum acts as a set piece to bring the ball quickly back into play while allowing the attacking side a bit more space.

I guess the subtle nuance's of Rugby League are just lost on those more used to the lumping it up of union.

I agree some of the RU scrummaging is tedious to watch, especially when the referee keeps making the scrum reform time and time again. Definitely an area of the game that needs addressing.


However I can't see the point in the type of scrums RL have at the moment. A more sensible way to restart play would be to restart the tackle count and take a tap

Most players and COACHES havn't a clue about what you could do with scrums in RL.

A hybrid would give all us slow, unfit, short, old blokes a chance to play top line sport

The scrums in RL have evolved whereas scrums in union are still back in the iron age along with the cavemen.

I thought they already play this sport,it's initials are RU.

Looks like to me that this is something Rugby Union in australia would like a they are the sport that is struggling. I dont want to see some kind of merge. I love Rugby League as it is!

I'd love RL and RU to merge, it would be fantastic and could be a real rival to soccer's dominance in this country at least. The only way i'd be willing to let it happen though would be to completely disregard all RU rules, maybe give them a token line-out or something.

Competitive Scrums, when refereed correctly, they are a great thing to watch. The current scrums are a nonsense.

Atleast darts is far better to watch then union...

Apart from week 1 attendances have been very disappointing in the NRL so far... especially when memberships have 'allegedly' increased.
