New stadiums will encourage larger attendances and more punters through the gates.
For sporting events with any sort of live audiences, health & safety is the number 1 priority.

| Health and safety?
I must have missed all those people getting killed watching Cas.
Agree with most posters, but should also add that the Jungle and Knowsley Road look and sound infinitely better on TV than the half empty concrete monstrosities found in Wigan, Huddersfield, and Hull.

yeah, encourage a larger attendance for one game for people to see what the ground is like

| I been lucky enough to go to most big and new stadiums but i will say the KC stadium is the worst by an country mile it is to expencive and the fans who have turned in to cardboard cut outs and half full stadium i like best is Wigan cheep and it is an easy 2 points.

| Most modern stadiums aren't built for rugby. They're a bit on the large side and they lack standing areas. As good as the kc, jjb and galpharm are, they're not ideal for their respective clubs.
In my mind hull fc's home will always be the boulevard and their fans might say different, but there's something not quite right about them 'using' the kc.
Wire's place on the other hand might be considered 'souless' by some, but its a sensible capacity with standing areas. Its down to the fans to create the atmosphere, not the bricks and motar. IMO they've got that place spot-on and I'd go as far to say its the best rugby league stadium in the country.

| I'm not really that keen on the JJB to be honest.
As much as its nice facilities wise, it just looks as if it's been designed by an accountant using no more than an IKEA catalogue for inspiration before being dumped on a retail park loading yard.

Something that i think is very important to a rugby supporter, i've never been to an all seater stadium that has the same atmosphere as one with standing areas.

| Well Leeds is supposed to be classed as a good stadium - I know it's not new but I don't like it. No cover for visitors when it's raining and a bl**dy drum to deafen you.

not even true, NSW is virtually bankrupt and can't afford to sort out its infrastructure problems. Everyone knows WA is the real financial power in the country. Without tourism and pokie tax NSW is dead in the water!
NSW exports $51bill total. WA exports $68bill in commodities alone.

| There nothing wrong with old grounds. Where the problem lies is clubs that just don't spend any dough on maintenance with peeling paint, minging bogs, crap catering, weeds, unmade car parks, leaking roofs etc.

| The JJB has the best atmosphere by some distance imo.
Knowsley Road's good and I also love the KC.
Widnes was phenominal yesterday too actually, never had an atmosphere like that there before.
Ive never been but new CP always sounds good on the telly

You reckon ?
All depends on what your definition of 'good' is, doesn't it? I think the KC is a fantastic ground. I know I can go there safely with the kids, we're all guaranteed a good view of the match, protection from the weather, decent toilets, food, pleasant stewards. Very few away fans would've looked forward to a trip to the Boulevard.. I'm not that fussed either way about the presence of a few thousand drunks swearing at the referee which seems to be the main element of the atmosphere at some grounds, but I know for some on here it's a big part of the match experience.
Sydney Football Stadium (not exactly new now) is pretty poor for a big ground, when the roof leaks in the rain and there's 5000 in to watch the roosters.

| Never liked the Galpharm.
The KC is good when full, but it's eery when FC play there in front of 10-12k.
I'm not sure on Wire either, I like the stadium itself, but the acoustics aren't great. In the sense that fans behind the sticks can't hear those at the side, and vice versa.

| There are two differences between those grounds built in the past decade and the grounds built before then:
1) The new ground sare terrible when half full, whereas the old ones are good when half full
2) The new grounds are amazing when full to the rafters, whereas there isnt much difference when the old grounds are full to the rafters. Therefore they lack the big game feel that a new, sold out stadium has.
Personally, I'm glad that we play in the KC and not some dump. We have the potential to expand our fanbase, we dont have to worry about anything at all such as weather, things falling down, not getting a license etc etc and we can have that big game atmosphere every season when we play Rovers (and in the past, Bradford and Leeds a couple of times)
