Yes. So every single Hull player could have quite legally taken this supplement provided that they stopped at least 12 hours before playing. Something Long seems to have misunderstood given his rant about being at risk of testing positive in the Derby.


In competition = playing a competitive match.

In training = between competitive matches.

Not 100% sure where friendlies fit but seems likely they'd count as in training.

It has been though it is 48 hours not 12. I think it's a case of people are either too stupid to understand or don't want to understand. As for Long, we all know exactly which camp he comes in to.

I agree about some people not wanting to understand (a Rovers fan wanting a pop, or a pro-union tabloid). But I think it's a bit unfair to say some are too stupid to understand. It's not a case of them being stupid, it's a case of their not being very good information out there.

The definition of "in competition" and "out of competition" need specifying. There can't be a grey area between the two if they're handing out 2 year bans.

well surely when you can get drug tested any time during the season and pre season you wouldn't want to be taking the stuff even if oxyelite say you can get away with taking it 12 hours before the test. off season is the only time in my eyes when they should be taking it

Isn't that the point? That they believed it was OK to take therefore why would they need to stop taking it 12 hours (or 48 or whatever) before the game? Gleeson didn't and what Long is saying is that if he had been tested (or others had been) then he/they would also have tested positive, therefore Long (at least) also had it in his system during games.

Gleeson and Long are claiming others in the squad take it. Nothing has been said about 'when' they take it, just that they were taking it. Judging by the quote from Long, he still doesn't have a clue about when it's OK to take it considering he thought taking it the night before was wrong when apparently it's OK.

Gleeson tested positive, so he was definately taking it less than 12 hours before game time and Long supplied it to him. Why would Long advise anything other than what he did with it? So, on balance, I think it's fair to assume both Long and Gleeson were taking this stuff less than 12 hours before game time and if they were, then it's not too hard to imagine other players were too.

No, I don't have a link but one of the presenter on the radio was saying that following Sean Longs statement on Monday night. Oh and for the record, I'm a Rovers supporter, you really should be careful about making generalisations!!

I don't think they were taking it within the 12 hour period, but I think he was implying that the stuff might still be in his system in that time.

Because he quite clearly doesn't have a clue about it.

That is extreme extrapolation through the lens of the biased point of view of a rovers supporting mental pygmy. Its a pity for you that the Stalinist and Nazi regimes no longer exist as you would have done great job for them at identifying those guilty by some twisted "logic" of association and carting them off to the camps. The facts are, no matter how much you fantasise, first that it is OK to take this drug except when it is present in the system during a game (ie taken 12 hours or less before kick off) and secondly only Gleeson failed the test, nobody else.

Which makes it rather fairer to assume that if any other players were taking it they were using it legally and correctly and that Gleeson is the lone idiot, a position he unfortunately has held before as supporters at his previous clubs will testify.

Your argument is probably valid if Gleeson was knowingly breaking the rules regarding this substance i.e. he and any other player at Hull using this stuff [uknew[/u that it had to be cleared out of your system before a game.

The argument from Gleeson and Long seems to contradict that likelyhood though doesn't it? They seem to be arguing that they were told it was OK and Long would have had no concern if he was given (and followed) instructions to not take any within 12 hours of a game. They could of course be lying.

So, either Long and Gleeson were taking it, (Long either did or didn't know that it took 12 hours to clear the system and it was illegal to have it in the system during a game), and they both knowingly or unknowingly had it in their system during games and every other player at Hull FC who was on this stuff (and advised by the same club conditioner that Long and Gleeson were) was using it in accordance with the rules, or, all the players on this stuff were likely of the same mistaken opinion as Long and Gleeson that it was OK and were just fortunate not to have been tested themselves.

I happen to think it more likely that all the players taking this substance were given the same wrong advice either by the conditioner or Long and could well have had this substance (in all innocence) in their system during games.
